    Howdy!

Have an 09 Fat Bob due January after 18 years on various go-fast Kawasaki's (still have the old school, rebuilt '81 Z1100 Shafty in the garage) and time for a change... for the comfort of the wife too....

Have plenty of mates in the bike industry, but none all that keen on HD's so I'm about to become quite the piss take target with the lads pretty soon.

I've seen a couple of posts from the Sunshine Coast with some info on Fat Bobs and how to encourage some sound and performance out of them and I'd appreciate some feedback or advice so that I have a good idea of what to do when it finally arrives.

Not real keen on parting with the K8 or so to put a 110 kit in and prefer to start with pipes, look at tuning, Thundermax, suspension set up etc.

Have a mate that buys Vance & Hines pipes and other fun accessories through his business, so have access to bits there too.

    Any advice is appreciated.

Welcome Baz, I have an 09 Fatbob on order as well. There is a 8-9 month wait here in Adelaide at the moment. All the best on the wait, they are worth it. Best handling Big Twin in the range.

    Yodel All,

Thanks for the positive responses and most friendly welcome - appreciated.

It's gonna be a looooong wait but I've been alive 34 years without one, so another 6 months will be ok.

Gives me plenty of time to plan the mods and get it right.

Like I said, any advice on performance enhancing is most welcome - be it handling, sound or ponies.

    Happy days.

Welcome mate, got mine back to WA 2 weeks ago, I have a thunder max on order, have changed the mufflers to a set of tapered turbos I picked up in Melbourne on the way home. They look and sound just right for me. I love the header pipes on the Fat Slut and would'nt even consider changing them. Vance Hines are to loud for me, as are the S&S stuff. Remember though, you make suttle or drastic changes on your scoot to suit YOU. I've also put 14" ape's on mine as I've riden the last Harley (94 wide glide)with them and I love em. The bike is worth the wait, I had to get mine in Qld. after 7 month wait, could'nt get one in the West till Xmas this year. Rode down to Melb Adelaide then a mate shipped it over on a truck. Went over the Blue Mountains and the bike handles the best that I've ridden, ( 4 Harleys in the past 20 years) Good luck, I hope the time goes faster for you than it did for me.

    Hey PK,

Thanks for the words man, that's great.

Appreciate the insight to pipes etc and you're absolutely right, any changes need to suit wat I want out of it, although give me a jap bike & I know exactly what to do and how to set it up but NFI with this one.

Hoping the wait does go quickly and the more crap the lads heap on HD's whenever we see them, the wider my grin becomes.....

One of them will probably be eating a big slice of Shut The Fuck Up when he makes a new set of pipes, bars, billet pegs and other nice shiny bits when it's here though....

Betchya he can't wait to take it for a ride....

    Hey,

Have the Fat Bob!!! - picked it up on New Years Eve and fuck me, it's even better than I'd had expected.

I've put a 103 kit through it with SE pipes, race tuner, air, LED tail light, flame bits here and there and it's the nicest ride I have ever had.

The sales experience through Sunshine Coast HD was nothing less than super professional and thanks to Jason for the time and deal he put together. A mate bought the custom Night Train they had in there just before xmas straight off the floor, so I think they were pretty happy with two HD's from this neck of the woods.

I nearly bought a Warrior to spend some money on, but still came back to the FB so we bought it and fuck me, I'm stoked we did. I love it.

Tks to Glen and Ed Clent for the advice and input - I appreciate it greatly.

My mates that gave me some shit when i told them about it are now eating some nicely served Shut-The-Fuck-Up and their opinions on HD's have most certainly been brought around pretty fucking quickly....

still riding it in a bit - only 600k's on the dial, but it pulls nice and hard through the mid range and the SE Fat Bob pipes sound really nice. Trying to load an image in the POSTER section on the left there but how the fuck do i do that?
