G'day, my rubber glide has developed an annoying dry metal to metal sounding sqeak  when shutting the throttle off. Only noticable at low speeds when wind noise is not covering up the sound.

Does it when weight is thrown forward on decel when not clutching or applying brakes . Bike has done 18000 km,is stock and hasnt had cam chain tensioners replaced.

    Im worried,need advice. Thanks.

Could easily be to do with the rear belt.

Today i noticed the squeak which sounds like several canaries is doing it at idle as well.

Sounds like its coming from behind the engine near the swingarm, maybe its a worn bush or loose engine mount?

I have just discovered a squeak on my roadie and discovered that it is coming from the gear shifter set up is loose at the back where it goes into the gearbox, it has a lot of play in the setup. as i was riding i would hold the shifter rod with my boot and the noise would go away.
take it for a ride and when you decel try it. hope that all ya problem is.

As far as i know my belt is stock.I'm going to check my fuel tank is tight and see if the shift linkages do have excessive play or are dry.

Drive belt looks ok and have just had it retensioned after fitting new tyres recently.

The squeak problem turned out to be somewhere in the crossover pipe connecting the two headers.

Problem was inadvertently solved after a muffler change when pushing them on to headers.

Must have been something loose in this crossoverwhere the two halves join.Issue resolved anyway.
