    Dear All,

I have proudly purchased and picked up, yesterday, a brand new iron 883 from blacktown harley. Love the bike and the ride. Im surprised at this package and seems to be the best value for a brand new bike around 13k. My first HD and i cant see myself going back to a Jap sports bike!

I have some customisation ideas and the first is to chnage the rear to a rigid type with the brackets already at my disposal. WOuld anybody be able to guide me, step by step, through removing the shock assemblies and replacing them?

    Thanks in Advance

    Well,

Just checked the forum and it was after I had spent today implementing the mods. I managed to get the shocks off without any issue. I wont note downa step by step procedure as its not necessary. The 4 bolts visible (2 Bottome with Nuts) are all that hold these babies on. Apaprt from using a car jack to raise the rear wheel off the ground. Installing the rigid struts was as easy as lowering the jack to the necessary height and bolting it into place with original bolts.

Took it for a ride and it was quite pleasant. Obviosly bumpier and firmer than original but still ok for short rides. The bonus is that it makes the thing look real sweet!

Also installed set of Vance and Hines Short Shots and let me tell you my ears are still ringing. Best sounding thing for a long time. I wouldnt recommend this if living in tight residential area unless you have a death wish or bad neighbours. Situation could get real ugly.

Wow... thats a nice bike in your profile. Please check out my profile to see the end product. What I plan on next is to install drag bars, bottom sweep, chop the rear fender down to about 6 inches, custom air filter. I like your idea about whitewalls... does anybody know of any member rides around north sydney?
