V-Tune Process - Am I on track?

Ok - So I am about ready to do a Vtune on my Fatty, and I have been doing a bit of reading and playing and I think I have the process in place... but would like some pointers.

I have already tested that DataMaster actually records.  Hooked it up to the bike and kicked the bike over and recorded some data - all good.

So, tell me if I have this right...

Get DataMaster recording and go for nice ride around the country side to record some data.

Then, run Vtune and load my original map, and the data file I just recorded.

Get Vtune to Generate the map

Load that map into the bike

Is that it in a nutshell??

I have read bits about having to change the AFR, but that bit has me a bit lost.

    Cheers

I don't think ya need to worry about ya AFR on the 2010 models Mongrel, they use LAMBDA instead .Have a look at page 23 in ya manual,it's covered there.I hope to have a crack at it myself on the weekend,so have been reading up on it too.SHEEESH who reads the instructions anyway??.It's a bit confusing with instructions for the new lambda system and the old setup all intermingled in the same set of instructions tho, trying to work out wich bit's ya need to know and wich ya don't.Anyway good luck with it mate.

Thanks Oz. I must say though... taking my brand new Fatty to redline with only 700ks on the clock does not excite me!!!

This Knock business has me intrigued. Not something I have experienced (I don't think)

    Thanks Oz,

That is what I am doing right now. Running on the stock AE map, and I reckon it is running rich alright. A little soot on the rim of the pipes, and light film of it on the chrome wheel. I still don't like the idea of taking any bike to the rev limiter. I never ride it to the rev limiter, so why would I replicate it in the Vtune. From what I have read the point if Vtuning is to get the bike running right to match your riding style. Did I miss something??

    Hi Oz,

Thanks mate. Not Vtuning yet - just reading and getting an understanding on how to do it. I hooked the laptop up the other day and made sure Datamaster is getting data, and it is - so I should be right to go when the time comes.

I just got back from a 350k ride, and I am really happy with the way the bike is running on the stock map. So if it gets better, then I am going to be a happy boy!!

The bike has over 1000ks on it now, and will probably go in for its first service soon. Then I will think about Vtuning.

    Cheers
