Passing time till I can buy a piglet

    Hi there everyone,

I've been lurking and reading up for the past few days and thought I would post an intro.  As you can see from my thread title, I'm bikeless at the moment but hopefully I'll change that before the summer comes.  I'm still unsure which bike I'll get, my heart says sportster 1200 but my brain says perhaps a jap copy will do in the short term and I can put the money I save in my house deposit fund.  However, many of my close friends ride Harleys and you just can't go past the sound of a big twin with a decent set of pipes.  Added to that, I have very fond memories of helping my old man build up a custom harley in the early 90's (Evo, 4 speed, midnight pearl blue, heaps of rake and low), going through endless ozbike and LTR magazines to find that perfect paint colour or the best looking seat and visiting Peter Stevens when they were still down King William St.  You just don't get that experience buying an off the shelf kawahonama with the "genuine" imitation leather tassles hanging off the handle bars.

It has been a few years since I've thrown my leg over a bike (thrown my leg over a few hogs though...before I met my girlfriend of course)  however I'm not getting any younger and I've gotten past my poor uni student days and have a job that will pay for some nice toys to enjoy life with (and get married, have kids and buy a house if my girlfriend is to be believed ).  Luckily the chilly Canberra mornings have dampend my enthusiasm for the past few months, otherwise I'd have bought a sports bike when the idea of riding again entered my head.  So I look forward to having a chat, asking questions and posting pics as I buy a bike and make it mine.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, much appreciated.

I'm pretty sure when the time comes to buy a bike, I'll grab a sportster.  I think the hardest decision will be what parts to put on it :)
