Does anyone know if they still make those sparkplug leads that glow when current runs through them. Yeah I know they are really old and a bit w*nky, but I always wanted them when I was a kid. I don't exactly know what they are called so I can't do a Google search for them on the internet. I've looked through all the expensive imported bike magazines at my newsagent (the owners are getting p*ss*d at me treating their shop like I library) and I can't find them anywhere. I ride home at night and I think they would look cool on my bike, especially as I've got twin plug heads. When they glow I know the engine's running and if I counted the number of times they glow in 60 seconds I would know the RPM (only joking).
Just while we are on spark plugs, the manual says that on normal Sporty ignitions the plugs fire together each revolution it's just that when they do the other cylinder is on the exhaust stroke. This means that each plug fires twice for each cycle and the same amount of times it would in a 2- stroke motor. This has to wear the plugs out faster. On the XL1200S the plugs fire separately. How do the plugs fire in other engines, separately or at the same time?
Do they still make the glow in the dark leads and what are they called? Once again any help would be greatly appreciated.
