Hey,
I have only had this bike a couple of weeks, and decided to give it a tune.
Pulled the points cover off, and discovered a set of points in there.
Pulled the ignition module cover off, and discovered that the ignition module is still in place.
Is it probable that someone has replaced the triggers with points, but still used the ignition module?
Is there any way to check if this is the case?
If this is what has been done, why?
any help would be appreciated.
Dave.
hi, the bike is running on the points only, take out the old module , the points will have 1 wire that goe's to the coil only , bob
Thanks Bob,
I thought that may be the case. Will have to look at an electronic ignition for the old girl, as the idling is a bit erratic.
hi, you would have to do a good tune 1st bobweight's & timing re- tighten top-end ,check tappets , then clean fuel system complete tank off & clean , do a comp test , go from there , sporty bob
hi, if you don't know how to set-up points , don't get & electronic ign system with mechanical advance, have 1 thats full electronic like crane h1-4,
