Sydney HOG Chapter snags Richard Cartwright as guest speaker at our Chapter meeting on Tuesday September 7. 7pm.

Who is Richard Cartwright I hear you say?

Here is a letter from Richard.

Fred Madderom – Director, Sydney HOG Chapter.

My name is Richard Cartwright, Managing Director of STONE Movie Limited / Platinum Productions Pty Ltd.

You (I'm sure) will recall the classic Oz biker film of 1974, STONE? Well I have the rights and I am writing and producing a new STONE, paying homage to the original, but not mimicking.

Reason for my contact, is I note you have a Chapter meeting this coming Tuesday and I would like to bring to you and your fellow members attention a unique opportunity to participate in the new STONE by way of a limited and very exclusive investment offer.

This may be of interest to you and your members?  If not, no problem, at least you will be aware of the new STONE.

I attended a special screening of STONE at the National Film & Sound Archive with its creator Sandy Harbutt earlier this year and have lots to talk about.

Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction) rates STONE as the movie that not only influenced  his career in film making the most but one of his favourite movies of all time.

I hope this does take your interest? It is quite an exclusive and very limited opportunity that has many other related benefits.

This may be of interest to other affiliated HOG Chapters in Australia, which I assume you have contact?  We'd love to spread the word.

My best to you and your members,

    Regards,
    Richard

Whats the issue of HOG being extras in a bike movie?
maybe for a bit of realism, they should have approached the Kawasaki riders club. then you wont watch it because they ain't Harley's.
They could have asked a bikie club, but then you wont watch it because it ain't your club.

This is a remake of a "B" movie, they could be getting the vespas in for the gig and we will have a look out of curiosity.

No track record, but I guess you have to start somewhere. If he has some cred he has probably bagged in-principle commitment from the Film Finance Corp or one of the State film funders in which case he should mention it.

I suppose "Stone" is like the "Blues" You had to live it to feel it

Will Sandy Harbut be directing the new movie?? If he is I hope he makes some money out of it this time around

Rain rain go away I want to ride on a sunny day

I do think we are kinda on the same wave length, but from what I was thinking was that the production was after "people" riding Harleys more than other makes, reading some other posts I may have been wrong and they were after money.

I don't wish to sound unpatriotic, I am not trying to diminish the guys and gals who served. but I don't see VVMC as an outlaw club, I do see the club as a unique group that enjoy the company of other Vets and ride bikes, but in the "EXTRAS' of a movie, I don't think it would matter who it was

I was talking to an old Bikie club member and he remembers talking to the guy (who's name was on the end of his tounge) from VVMC when the first one was filmed, when they were asked if they could use their patch, so they would proberly be a better ask to do any extras work.

Patch was owned by a Club, they were asked by the VVMC if it could be used by them. Was asked with respect and was granted with respect.

I may have misread the post but it sounds like Mr Cartwright wants some money, not actors.

    Quote-

a unique opportunity to participate in the new STONE by way of a limited and very exclusive investment offer.

He may want actors, but with no money no movie. So don't rush out to join the HOG club yet.

a remake wont be the same ,the bikes were the real part the people were extras .the acting wouldnt be hard to improve but its like easy rider ,morning of the earth and woodstock they werent meant to have sequels they were part of an era and the age group of the time .for me i was happy to see tits, joints, and a norton keepin up with the kwakas .i was still on truimphs then .if its gonna be hoggies they could get hoges to be the pres

would i love to see a great new bike film...YES YES YES....but a remake of a classic.....im not sure....something need to be left alone......but if he wants to remake grease 2 go for it....sure michelle phifer will be up for it....lmao

Fark me fellas lighten up what ever happened to giving it a go in this country. I didn't go last night but my first impression of the write up was well I got no money to invest and if I did probably would seriously look into it or would've gone last night. At least this guy has balls, vision, passion for film and hopefully making a 2010 and beyond style of STONE.
If we all sit around and say fuck this fuck that we will never get anywhere.
I was told he wasn't asking HOG members to be extras he has been going around to all different bikes clubs (bike Enthusiasts) asking for investment in a BIKE MOVIE which happens to be a re-make of STONE.
Who has shares he in the stock market? if so did you know the people you trusted your money with? have you made money? or have you lost? hmmmmmm
    My 1 cents worth
    Cheers

You are right Dave, the "Technical Advisers" for the movie was a 1% club who owned the patch rights.

Fark me...........can it get anymore depressing ?

I reckon FLAN should start writing the script and let this thread die a natural death

If you asked me to invest in a Porno movie.............now that I would be interested in

and I wouldnt mind being an extra in that !
