Yes, but what is wrong with the Hex Head / Allen Key?

They put some Allens and then mix in Torx. Why dear lord, why? ;)

Just get a slightly larger allen key and hammer it into the torx hole until it fits. If anyone tries this let me know if it works ok.

I have never had a problem with them. Use quality Torx bits and you shouldnt have a worry (H_D stands by for a torrent of abuse!!)

Torx are no problem if you have quality tools,

I use some stainless on my bike but be aware that stainless isn't grade 8 hi tensile so in most cases shouldn't be torqued up to the same specs as given in the manual

Stainless can also be prone to other problems like the threads picking up.

I use stainless fastners all day everyday at work.

Just a small tip, always put a bit of anti-seize on the stainless to prevent trouble down the line.

I use Loctite on all my bolts. After being hit by my mates rear footpeg further enforced it!!

243 (blue) loctite is the go in most cases, especially with stainless fastners as it lubricates the bolt when fitting and can still be undone with hand tools.

222 screw loc for smaller screws and the 6 series for retaining

Use of one of loctite's activators will speed up the curing time.

But if its in a location where high torque is needed, I wouldn't use stainless.

They are only about grade 2 maybe abit higher, certainly less than grade 5.

Grade 8 should be used in the critical areas.

You can actually shear off a M16 stainless bolt quite easily just with spanners.

Yep - I reckon we need to start a new organisation called  RAT.    Riders Against Torx!
