     Hi Guys.

Im thinking of getting a windsheild for my streetbob,

I hate the look, but i am getting wind blasted on the freeway, what do you guys think.

Is there a big difference in the ride,or am i a whimp at the age of 50,what are your thoughts.

    Look forward to some feedback.

My heritage came with the screen. Ride with it on and off. Nice around town with it off, but more tiring on the freeway/open road. On open road, 90 kph with it off is comfortable (IMO), with it on speed depends on the depth of your pocket and points up your sleeve,  It is good protection against bugs, but having said that have still been stung on the face by a bee when its been on. Bottom line, your decicsion, but IMO it is nice at highway + speeds.

Course you're a wimp, windshields are for girls blouses, blah, blah, blah.

(they're worth there weight in the right circumstances fugitive)

Why don't you consider one of the "Quick Release Sports" models, then you can have the best of both worlds.

Edit;     If you decide to buy one, check out CoolCustomChrome from Tenessee, they have genuine HD windshields at well below OZ stealers prices.

I put a quick release one on my bike...It was too high and the top was right in my line of vision so I either had to sit up to look over it or stoop down the see through it...I cut it down and the top is now about 2" below my vision out to 50m...It seems to work ok but now I get buffeted from the wind that seems to be coming up from undernieth...I don't know if anyone else has noticed this,it might just be me...

my heritage had a screen had it on a couple of times and over 60 kliks never got wet but I wasnt keen on it. I carried my swag on the headlight once and was amazed at how much it pushed the wind up and over me, rode across the snowys and was amazed at the bugs on the swag when i hadnt even noticed they were about!! So a big screen isnt neccesarily the go, anyone used the smaller screens available? I think the dyna convertible had a shorter screen but could be wrong.

    Speaking of winds...

I found out today what its like to ride a Fatboy with solid wheels in a heavy crosswind!! FWARK!! I have never felt anything like that before! Normally the wind takes you from the top down. In other words, its the wind against your body that pushes you across the road. But today it was completely different. The heavy cross wind would grab the wheels and push them out from under you!

    Man it felt strange!

I guess my real problem is i have not got enough hours on my bike, after 30 years not ridding, i have become aware of all the elements out there.

I do not remember having these issues in my younger days, and i certainly feel the fucken cold these days.

I might be getting old shhhiiiitttt

Having a bike with a weathershield I prefer it on, I took it off my Softie last week and rode around for a day. I then put it back on, maybe I'm wussy but I lie it. Could be because the VStar had one as well and I've grown used to it.

Go for detachable if you're going to do long rides IMHO.

For big rides and getting more out of your bike in the winter a screen is a much more practical accessory than chrome. To fit properly the top edge of the screen should come level with your top lip when sat in a comfortable position. The biggest draw back with windscreens is the buffeting caused by being too high or at the wrong angle. For this reason I bought an original HD screen, me being of approximate proportions of your average fat yank.

In pissy weather I can still ride without a face mask and sunnies. Being od mature age I find I am still spending as many hours riding as I did when young and dumb. Last year I had the funniest experience when I clipped on the screen expecting a bit of the wet stuff through a night ride. Instead there was a Christmas beatle fall. As you could imagine riding through that in normal circumstances would have been like being shot by a dozen machine guns, however with the screen I only had to stop once at Moe to clean the screen.

Screens are daggy and make a bike look shit, but I don't care as long as I am getting miles up, instead of sitting at home grumbling about the weather

Your bike your choice, i rode through a locust plage on the way to Bathurst one year that was an experience, no screen but had a full face
