I am interested in others thoughts on this...
5.85 pounds for every cubic inch with 148 cubes max. (weight includes rider)
US V twin. Mass produced cast cases, cylinders and heads. Steel rods
OEM or mass produced frame
Wheelbase of max of 68 inches
no wheelie bars
Street tyres
Must bear full street equipment .
Needs to run low nines or better!
Fire away.
cheers Surly
js that one of the ANDRA class's?
Use a John Treese two cam, John Treese heads MoTeC EFI but it only mounts to EVO style frame close to 200ft pound TQ, all Aussie made, think Renigade in QLD sells the motor. but its not going to be easy you have to learn to use all the HP thats the hard part. also look for a brad foot gear box you'll need it
Old rule; "There's no substitute for Cubes"
and if you wanna kick ass for ten seconds,,, add a little Laughing Gas (NOS)
It is the streetbike twin group 2 class.
An S&S 124 challenge bike is an easy answer but the class actually allows for more cubes and options than that.
It is a weight break class so adding more cubes isnt always the answer.
No NOS, turbo or superchargers allowed. Petrol or Methanol only.
Keep the thoughts coming but think a bit further along than a big motor from suchnsuch FXR? FXDB? Chopperguys frame? Buell or sportie with 100ci S&S?
Surly, you will only get one or two harleys to race against in that class. you have to run off your class index. you will have to be cutting times quicker than the class index & unless you can do that its a waist of time.
Modified bike group three, is a better class for Harleys.
but the best class for heads up is Top Bike just costs a lot more money.
P/CB was the original harley class in group 2 but only one or two race that class now too hard to compeat or costs too much to be compeditive.
the first round ANDRA Nationals are on in Sydney next weekend10th 11th 12th
KK,
It isn't P/CB it is ST/B. Record isn't set and they are using 9.40 as a min. Index is presently 9.90.
Comp Bike in WA is reasonably healthy and I am not really worried what I would be racing against. There are guys here that run well under the record so regardless of what you choose it is either big dollars or you accept it might be a while before you are competitive or run mod bike until you are.
I have put in about 10 seasons as a crew member between modified and comp here and understand the pros and cons but simply prefer index racing to dyo.
Well good luck m8 , keep us updated. you got some great comp bike racers over there! P/CB is only 120 cubic inch maxium and they run in 8's
