Iv'e searched and read what I can and sent a few pm's to members but just thought I'd ask again in here...I have a 1995 FXSTC with only 7500k's on it...It has a stage 1 kit and I am happy with the power most of the time as I'm not a speedster...I would like to have a little bit  more get up and go when out on the road for passing and long climbs...I am thinking the ev27 or the ev46 and as far as I can make out is that they work almost the same but in slightly different rev ranges...Is this right????

Also is it just the cam, inner bearing, gaskets and pushrods or is there a whole lot more???I have read about shimms etc and then I was lost...Is it rocket science to do the changeover???

    Cheers...Sparra

Try this link........explains it all step by step............http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/hdcaminstall00.htm

As far as the 27 goes, I fitted one to my last EVO...and it ROCKED! Had drag pipes on originally which made the cam kick in about 3400rpm, changed to tapered turbos and the fucker pulled like a train from under 2000rpm to redline pretty much. Top upgrade for an EVO!

Can't comment on the 46, but it appears to come on about 500rpm later, and keep pulling later, way up to redline.

To me 5500rpm was high enuff to change, prefer to have the extra down low!

Don't forget your ignition, if your still running stock. I used, and recommend Crane HI-4.

......and, as above.........put in that Torrington!

Just reading up on cam installation and was curious to know if everybody who does the cam change installed cam shim washers...The instructions say that every aftermarket cam requires them???If you did,did you order them with your cam???

    Thanks...Sparra

     G'day Sparra,

Dynarider has given you some sound advice there. As you mentioned you were stretching the dollars, may I just

recommend that you remember to use new gaskets when you do the surgery. The old ones may look alright and

you may be tempted to be a greenie and recycle. They are cheap enough.

    Cheers,

    Cris

Thanks for the reply's...Does the shim washer go on the end of the cam and therefore inside the inner bearing...In all my research everyone talks about them but i can't find a picture as to where they actually sit and what material are they made of??? Maybe it will just hit me when I do the install...

    Cheers...Sparra
