Lowered HDs and dangerous crash bars

Hard not to notice the trend in HarleyLand towards lower and lower machines, the latest being the Super-Low   - gord knows how low that is but...I had crash bars fitted to my lowered 05 Fat Boy and thought at first I was just putting the boards down until I found lifting them made no diff and that all that grinding sound was the crash bars. Forget about "when in doubt power out" - when the crash bar digs in, it and you ain't goin' nowhere but wide. Guess I'll dump them or cut them back to the highway pegs but it's a dangerous oversight and something to consider if you are thinking of bars for your Softail Low or similar.

At the risk of stating the obvious........you could always raise the bike up!
Low bikes are all well and good for bike shows and straight highways, but anywhere near corners........you just gotta steer the bugger round the corner at low speed!

My Bike isn't lowered, in fact I have the Progressives at their highest setting, and have scrapped the bars a number of times. No big deal, just reminds me to slow down.
