If you get caught u will have to pay customs, but most things go right though without having to pay extra, its a risk you have to take (either that or ring them up offering to pay).

I have not had anything from overseas stopped by customs but a lot of others have.

If it is Less than $1000, you won't have to pay anything. No risk at all.

    As the above!!

Keep everything under $1000 and you do not pay anything. You can get away with going slightly over that - if Customs have had a good day - but very rare.

Motor cycle parts, except exhausts, don't have any duty, just gst on the whole lot. eg 10% of the total cost. Duty on exhausts is 5%.

This is an email from customs.

    Dear Dave

Exhausts would be 5% Customs Duty and 10% gst.
    Kind regards,

    Dave

Motorcycle spares/engine spares (except exhausts) do not attract duty but GST is payable. GST is paid on the combined value of-
    - The transaction value of the part and
    - The cost of freight and insurance.

If buy some motorcycle parts from the USA that cost more than $1000.00, what would be the duty and taxes that I would have to pay.
