Mastertune Headache! ARRRRGH!!!

Ever since I got the TTS and laptop Ive been havin trouble with it while doing data runs.

Some days I can do 2 x 30-40 min runs with no problems. Most times (like today!) I get a few mins into it and the computer "hangs" and I cant do fuck all with it except restart it. Luckely it does not lose the data, although thats not much good for too short a run! For example, today I filled the bike with fuel, then started vtune data run and rode about 5 kays to my "closed circuit" where I continued for a few mins before it shit itself. Tried again another 4 times only to have it shit itself after a few mins. Tested connections, shock proofing, etc. and finally got a half decent run which probably only needed a couple more mins too complete to my liking, before the fucker shit again!

Managed to generate a good map from what I had and 2 previous runs.

This is drivin me crazy. Installing a 103 kit shortly, so will have to go thru it again!

What happens is- all goes well with the little X jumping around all over the place generating hits beautifully, then all of a sudden it just freezes. Cant do anything with the curser, cant stop, let alone save data run, cant close window.........all I can do then is shutdown/restart laptop.

Have replaced the lead with the recommended Belkin one, no joy!

Have checked hibernation, power saving, etc. on laptop. Disabled anything that maybe trying to run in the background.

Its gi in me the SHITS bigtime!!!

Does anyone have any ideas, come on all you computer geeks!.........I need help!  This is drivin me to drink!......................(more)!

Just to add my 2c worth in, I have 1 of those acer aspire netbooks that I use solely for programming the bike, V-Tuning & whatever else is for the bike & it is constantly freezing up but when V-Tuning (about 12 times so far) it has never frozen up. Touch wood.

Hey Burto are you still V-tuning the CAA 176 map & if so how is it

    Thanks Burto

I'm runnin a Andrews 37 which the the numbers are fairly similar to your Woods 6.

Got another 500km's before I finish runnin this thing in, so I'm throwing on a 2:1 Fatcat & V-Tune with CAA176.

Was just curious to how you went using this map

What service pack are you running?

You should be running XP service pack 2 as a minimum

Make sure you go into the power settings on the laptop and make sure it is set to NOT turn the hard drive off when running battery power. Also some laptops have a power setting for the USB and com port and you need to check those as well. Not all laptops are set up the same but most of the time you can find these controls under the control panel.

If it is running other software OK and not freezing, I'd suggest you may be running out of RAM (chip memory).

If that ASUS is one of the small screen 10" (screen size) notebooks it may just not have enough RAM to cover off all the memory required by the software to run properly. Or even if it's not a mini notebook you could still be running out of RAM...

Just an idea for something else to check...look at the RAM needed to run the software package, and compare it to the RAM in the notebook. If it's marginal this could be your problem.

One more thing while your in there--- it wouldn't hurt to defrag the hard drive if you haven't done that for a while, and do a general 'housekeeping' clean up-- get rid of cookies, remove unwanted software, move all the porn off the hard drive onto a memory stick, etc. to free up as much hard drive space as you can.

    Just thinking out loud....

I do all mine on a EEE PC (my daughters) and have not had any issues at all, I leave mine open on the tank, is it the computer frezeing or the vtune info, if its the vtune info it may be the USB I had this issue and just bite it in the middle to make it tight to push on than no more worries since.

Have you turned of the shock protection or drive guard off?

My HP laptop has this, and when it detects hard shocks (or what it considers to be hard) it switches off the hard drive for protection, this will also cause your computer to freeze.
