Engine itself loud??

     Hi Lads,

    Just a quick one - is it normal that the engine block on these bikes is loud when running.  I have a 2010 FatBoy and the only way I can describe it is that it sounds like it has noise cam chains.  Sort of of the noise you didn't want to hear when you go to buy a second hand sport bike.

    When I crouch down beside the bike when its running, I can hear this sort of SHHHHHH sound that increases when you rev.  There is no knocking or the like.  Normal?

    Sorry for the questions - first harley so getting use to it i guess.

    once your pipes are on the engine noise will go away....

    seriously they do make a bit of noise, I forgot how much until I got defected and had to put my standard pipes back on,

    defect off, loud pipes back on within 1 hour....
