HELP' started my evo today after sitting in the shed for 2 months and oil starts pissing out the air cleaner...pulled the cover and filter off and its coming out the crankcase breather hose that goes to the air cleaner backing plate...started the motor again and it seemed to stop coming out...not a good look when youve got a bloke looking at the bike to buy it.....could this be caused from sitting for the 2 mths? or have i got a problem?
not really a problem, its called wet-sumping, basically oil passes the check valve in the oil pump and fills the sump. On my old evo, if not fired for a couple of months, it would do the same. All you need to do is stick the pipe in a clean bottle, fire her up, catch all lost oil and put it back in the tank!!! Easy!! Once she's purged and run, it won't do it till left to drain back down!!
