Tyre wear for Road King

I know this can vary a lot depending on type of riding and load on bike.

I am familiar with the sort of wear from tyres on the Softail range, but I'm 4000km into the new bike.

How many K's have you got out of the original Dunlops on the Road King, front and rear?

Did you replace them with the same or other brands? and did you continue with whitewalls. IMPO the whitewalls are part of the Classic look so will continue with them.....TC

Depends on how you ride and where you ride.Dunlops last a long time because they are hard.Personally I would give up tyre life for traction any dayI took my Dunlops off with 3,000km on them, them and the wheels sit in the garage.A lot of people are having a good run with Metzelers.I use Avons because I think the ride is better and the tyre gives the best grip of anything I have yet found to put on a Harley,3rd Harley with Avons fitted and love em.Whatever tyre you choose, tyre pressures are critical.

The wear indicator is set at approx. 1.5mm .This is the minimum legal limit for tread depth, same for cars ,trucks and bikes.

I've got just over 13000 on my 07 RK custom and the rear has lost its shape and is almost down to the wear marks so i'll be changing it before going much further.
I've done a couple of little burnouts, a fair bit of cruising and ridden it reasonably hard on a few runs.
never had any traction issues so i wouldnt mind going with the same brand again.
I can really feel that lost profile though, it rails a lot on imperfections in the road and moves around a bit.

The front tyre has plenty left in it.
Mine arent white walls but I expect they're the same tyre, just..you know... different.

ok gotta ask if this is ok

im not real happy with metzler still waiting for a reply from tech guys

went for a run to townsville last week and couldnt believe that my rear metzler 880 just lost all tread down to the canvas 350 kms from home at roma

the tyre had gone to the canvas and was f//cked at 4600 klms

most of those kays were done 2 up with gear and yes im guilty of riding it a bit hard sometimes

but surely should get more milage than this?

tyre pressure running  44 lb rear 38 lb front approx 190 kilos tot weight with pass and gear

I've got 16K out of the original Dunlops on my 07RKC and there's some life left, but I'll be replacing them sometime soon. Anyone know where to go for the best price for Dunlop whitewalls in Sydney? Frasers are quoting over $600 for both fitted.

Gee what do you guys do?? Im getting 25k from rear and I havent replaced the front in nearly 50k. I do alot of highway with full camping kit 140kg inc rider, also a fair bit of around town rarley use my car. Using HD-dunlops thought of trying metz but i cant complain about the wear of the dunnies
