Added some new bits to the Iron.

My best mate gave me a Lick's solo bag for my birthday. It was a little finickey to install but after flipping the left hand passenger peg around (which entailed inverting the peg itself) I was able to retain it so that the missus can still jump on the back every now and then. This does place the left and right pegs offset to each other by a few inches but at least it works. I'll swap over the shorter pegs to avoid squishing the bag shortly. Pinstripe and mirrors are new, as are the blacked out engine covers on the left side and the rather tasty Joker Machine air filter. Next up is a wire tuck and maybe a tank lift, as well as some changes to the factory seat. I'm considering retrimming the stock seat as shown in the pic - which is a mock up done at the trimmers to see what it will look like. I like it!

Looks good Damon. Do you find the Licks bag rubs on the left side cover much? are you going to reduce the profile of the seat when you have it retrimmed, like say the 48 seat? Just asking...

I've been hunting for a 48 seat to try out and when one comes up on Ebay I'll grab one, which is why I don't plan on re-profiling the stock one much. Maybe change the seam to the actual edge as opposed to where it sits now. I think just the silver quilting and stitched seam and real leather will make all the difference - and at a fraction of the cost of a bolt on aftermarket item that anyone can buy. I'm contemplating doing the stitched section is suede and the back in leather but am in two minds as I think it will suck if it gets wet. I ride it everywhere and sometimes it rains while I'm out. I think suede will seep the colour into whatever paints I'm wearing - or vice versa.

    Would look sweeeeet though.

Nice Iron, except the chrome pipes !

Pipes aren't chrome, they're brushed satin.

I'm sure the $1000+ pipes on your Dyna are great, but when pipes cost 10% the value of the bike (as with the Iron) its hard to justify the expense I'm afraid.

Plus my brushed stock pipes with drilled baffles looks custom and sound custom in any case!

Stunner. I  took my Licks bag off a while back and it had rubbed the swing arm down to the metal. Quick spray of black and it was AOK again. Mate, how special is that bag - a really nice piece of gear and mega practical.

    Bars are Nightrain.

List of mods are long but subtle and affordable to achieve the look I was after without spending a huge amount of cash. Its had a nip and tuck here and there, rides lower, and most mods are second hand with nothing costing more than $150.

Your done very well with it mate ... I tryed searching for your bars on ebay but no luck ...

Do you mind sharing... what the bars specs are ? What size risers ? Any dramas hitting the tank ?

What shocks you running ? Im considering getting the 10" from Licks but concerned if it will be too low.. ive got Bassani sweeper pipes so its only the pegs that may scrape i think ...

    Cheers, appreciate the info !

eBay USA is your source for everything you need. The only thing I bought from eBay locally was the rear lowering brackets, but these are available from USA as well. With the dollar at 97c its a great time to build the bike!

    For bars:

    http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m570.l1313&_nkw=harley+drag+bars+black&_sacat=See-All-Categories

Risers are stock with a Harley (probably Nightrain again) top bar clamp and the good old Autometer gauge mount to move the speedo.

Its tight (as in a few mm) between the tank, speedo and mirrors. Circular ones (Licks) would be better but offer no rearward visibility.

Rear shocks are Air Touring Low which are 12-inch eye to eye. With lowering blocks I've come down a lot (5-inches?) and it does bottom out on sever bumps. You want the look? Gotta suffer...
