Decided to install 103 kit on 2010 Fatbob. Already has Woods 6 cams and will be adding +4 gear soon- before the 103 upgrade. Want my low end torque!!

Will be staying with STOCK heads for now. (please no headwork suggestions!)

    My questions are.............

What compression should I run with this set up?.......please specify static and/or corrected to cam.

    What cranking pressure?........030 head gasket?

How would the 103 go keeping the +4 gear. I know they say you dont need it after the 103 upgrade, but has anyone tried it? ...........As I said......I like my low end torque!!!

    Appreciate any input,

    Burto.

Burto,  I recently fitted Wood 7H, 103 to my brothers Fatbob. The 6 has similar timing but lower lift.

I ended up with around 10:1 Stattic and around 9.25:1 Corrected. Running SE flat tops, 86cc heads and .030 Cometic. I decided to fit comp' release's but they really shouldn't be needed. Still too early for a Dyno but appears to be very strong down low.

I wouldn't go much higher Comp' if there's a possibility of hot weather and shitty fuel.

The heads were CC'd and equalized by Paul Hallam when he ported them. He also did the 2009 heads I used and they were similar.

Ando, I was worried about the possible noise from what I had read, but honestly they are only marginally louder than stock Cams. I fitted SE adjustables, and set them at 3.5 turns into the stock lifters, with stock beehive springs.
Due to the really crap weather here in Vic', he's only put about 400km's on the new build, so hasn't done any top end runs.
Hopefully should get it on the Dyno soon, but I'm expecting the stock TB (ported) and injectors to be the limiting factor.
At this stage, I'd say it will be a Torque Cam, more than a big HP cam.

Burto, Flat tops are 10:1 in a 103.
You wont have any problem on premium fuel if you install the Cams "straight up".
Should put you somewhere at 9.25:1 corrected and 192 psi

If your keen, then it wouldn't be hard to leave the +4 with the 103 if that's what your thinking, and if you have troubles just pull it. The +4 is really used to compensate for lower comp' of the 96, and shouldn't be needed at 103.

Not sure how Hogbag got his numbers. Maybe his heads were unusually small, or his piston deck hight was high ?
