"BTW, I'm only old because I was born a long time ago."

I wasn't born that long ago........
I'm only old cause I wore everything out prematurely!

We had a HUGE vintage rally here in the 80's, lots of sweet sounds, but the one that stood out mostly was a BSA Vee twin, DAMN that thing was SWEET ! I made even the best sounding HD sound second rate !

I do agree the evo's and twinkies have lost the "fat cracking pulse" the pans and shovels had , but to get a shovel etc to GO like the newies (and they can) forget about trouble free miles though.

My ol girl has an individual growl, with  added whines coming from the genny drive gears, and the 3" primary, topped off by the "pop" of the valves closing , echoing thru the pan tin covers @ idle.

Methinks a knuckle somewhere, wants me !

I know my 07 kingy sounds nothing like me old fxrs, its hard to beat the sound of a naturally aspirated motor (WTF carby models) compared to the fuel injected models. I think harleys distinct sound comes from the twins firing order --I think its 270 --310 degrees giving it that unmistakeable potato potato sound. Damm sweet sound

Trouble is if they had a reason to change the sound it would be because they are "updating" everything includng the weight (hello plastic). With Japanese makes working hard to copy HD it wouldn't make much marketing sense for HD to copy the Japanese.

     Taffy - I'm runnin Woods TW6-6 cams.

Best you find out what he's got and checking that they're gonna suit your riding style.Different cams put the power in different rev ranges!

"It's a good point Burto because at the moment the power take up is VERY linear...it's like turning up a volume control - just goes and goes without any sign off a flat spot. Maybe best to leave it alone. I just had a set of custom earplugs made so that might be the last accessory I need - the SE2 pipes are thunderous with the SE cams and heads."

THUNDEROUS IS WONDEROUS!.......................If thats not a word...........well it IS NOW!!!!
