Hi,
My name is Dave Morgan. I live in Ingham in NQ.
I have always been into old Brits, and my current ride is a '70 Commando. I am 65, and this bike has a pretty high seat height and and requires a fair effort and great balance (which I am quickly losing) to start it.. That said, it is a great bike to ride.
I have purchased a 1984 Sportster Roadster. Why?
It has the bobber tank, which looks great, and a bobber rear guard. It has electric start, and a very low seat height. It is also different - I don't want an all-look-the-same Jap bike.
These engines also look pretty easy to work on, compared to the British twins. (I also have a 71 Lightning, and a 69 Bonnie in states or restoration).
I am sure that there is a wealth of information on this website, and probably a few members from up this way, as there seems to be plenty of Harleys in the area.
Hope to hear from some of you in the future.
Dave Morgan
Welcome Dave hope you enjoy the forums and congrats on the new bike.
Hello Dave. I'm 61 and last year decided to get into riding. I'd had a license once but never used it and it lapsed 36 years back but this was months before the law changed and it was easy to get it back and I was able to move straight onto a Harley even though there was no way I was up to it. An Iron 883 that I bought last Oct and thought would be my only HD ever...until a month back when I saw a used 2005 Fat Boy that had virtually never been ridden. Anyway mate, you know how it is - boys and toys so now I have two, at least until I sell the Iron which I'm in no great rush to do. Welcome to HD Land - a good addition to the other great collection of classics you have there and the blokes on this forum are supportive and helpful.
G'day Dave & welcome to the Forum.
Used to go to Forest Beach many year ago for Life Savers carnivals, nice part of the world.

Welcome Brother....You've got 2 years on me. I also used to ride Bonnies & loved them (didn't even leak). I've never had so much fun since I've returned & ridden HD's...Enjoy & ride safe.
Welcome Dave.
