Is it just me or do the new EFI bikes idle faster than the older carb bikes?

I had a ride on my mates Softail today - Is an 99 with Carbs, and it idles WAY slower than my 2010 fatty.  Sounded a bit lumpier too.  He did say it didn't have any cams in it, but I think it may have.

    Cheers

my 04 carby will stall at idle, unless i have riden about 50Ks,
I asked the dealer mechanic about slowing down the idle to get the potato sound, he said they will slow your bike idle down until the oil pressure is affected.

So will cams help to get the lumpy (as it was called) Potato-Potato sound??

I am hoping my air kit and radius, and a retune with TTS will help!

mine idles slightly fast when i first start the bike by the time I get to the first corner or whatever its idleing quite low (for an efi twin cam) and i've never noticed it going too high or too low.

Sure I luv the lumpy old harleys just like I did with my old er V8's and my 1st car a 6 cyl. tc cortina with the most radical cam it was an auto and i had to stand on the brakes and the accelerator everytime i pulled up or it would stall.

The commadores i've had would stall too if you pulled up at the lights with the air conditioner on. switch a/c off nice and lumpy, switch a/c on .... stall.....

lumpy cams and the beautiful induction sound of the secondaries opening up on the 4 barrell

Funny thing is, the Carby twin cam's have an idle spec' of 1000 +/- 50 as well, but as it's so easy to adjust, most have
them set a lot lower, and apparently they seem to suffer no dissastrous effects from low oil pressure.
As you know you CAN adjust an EFI bike's Idle lower with a tuner, even though it's frowned upon, but they still don't sound the same.
That is unless you change Cams/Comp' as has been said.

Ok - so all that said... how hard and expensive is it to throw some cams in?
