Guys any help would be much appreciated.

When the key is turned to ignition, everything works, light indicators etc. When i flick the ignition switch to on, nothing and the bike will not start. I spoke with harley City and explained i had recently changed the headlight and they said to try the fuses. I have since swapped everything over, fuses and battery with another sportster but still nothing. If anyone has any idea of what it could be i would really appreciate the help. If there is any more info you need please ask.

    Cheers Luke

Don't take offense, but you haven't accidentally turned the killswitch to off?

Bonkerz: you mean the engine on/off switch on the handlebar controls? not that mate. Been trying everything i can think of and searched hi and wide for an answer. Definately not the battery, as i said i swapped over from another sportster and all is working on that one.

Sometimes the little wire that goes to the starter motor can "fall out", even just partially. It's the flag terminal type one, that pushes into the small black plastic housing on the starter motor itself. It that were to happen, then the bike would show no response at all to the starter button, even if all else were well.

Sounds like Fuse's. Ivé had the same problem with my 06 Sportster. They get a build up of white power, no not that type!!!....corrosion on them.

Does the neutral light stay lit when you go to turn it over? And you swapped the fuses, but what about the relays (the big square boxes in with the fuses)?

swapped both the relays and the fuses. EFI doesnt work either when the killswitch is flicked to on. Neutral light on all the time. Will check it hasnt somehow gone into transport mode.

walka: there was a bit of corrosion on the fuses but bugger all, i have swapped them around to see if that was the issue but not the case, im guessing its something simple just cant work it out. A couple of weeks ago was its last ride and the efi was working fine though it would almost die when trying to start. I'll try taking the battery out again and charging it rather than using one from another sportster and see if that does the trick.

HogBag07 would transport mode mean the efi and starter wouldnt work but everything else would? and is it possible when taking the battery out that it went into transport mode accidently?

So its not the battery, fuses or alarm. I thought maybe a crimped wire but everything looks fine everywhere. Pulled apart the on/off switch housing and all looks fine. Is it possible the on/off switch has died?

Hogbag07 - Nah no fuel pump surge when i flick the run/off switch. The manual says that to disarm transport mode, all i need to do is turn the key in the ignition.. Which doesn't help. any other ideas? I'm stumped.

Does your headlight light up? Did the bike start after you put on the headlight? I would have thought you'ld blown a fuse, but if that's not the case maybe your headlight is shorting out somewhere?

yeah the headlight works perfectly.. Fuses are all fine.. The only thing I havent done, is connect the wires to the small light globe (parker) because it doesnt exist on my new headlight. Surely this couldn't cause the bike to not start at all?

Swap your headlights back over and see if it starts...
