    Hi Boys,

I wanna do more to my bike (got an itch) and I need some ideas on what ya reckon.

    1. I wanna do something with these big stock indicator lights what options have ya got.

    2. I wanna move or change the numberplate mount maybe something under the light.

    3. I wanna make my front wheel black, powder coat or paint?

    4. I'm nearly due to change my rear tyre has anyone put a 180 on instead of the 160 any issues?(do you need that wide tyre kit?)

    5. I also wanna buy a SE shift light tacho on , anyone fit one of these or some kind of tacho?

    Cheers thanks for your help

    What bike you have there?

Cruise the web or buy some catalogues, or better subscribe to some good mags.

Its a Dyna SuperGlide. Look left at my avatar and you'll see it..  I thought this forum was for this sort of thing.? Why are we here if we should all just buy magazines..?

I painted my rear indicator housings black and tucked them right in, have small low profile ones that bolt up neat under the control housings on the front.

made my own laydown plate holder which looks alot better than std, if you want to move it below the light you'll need a different light set up so the plate gets illuminated,
don't know about yr wheel, I like chrome wheels, to me the black ones look cheap but thats just me....

a 180 will be no probs don't have to change a thing, I went with a 200 with a few mods

shift tacho, don't know anything about, i shift by the sound and feel of the revs and like to keep my eyes on the road anyway during those go hard times

On ya Daggs, you gotta 200 on the stock rim how does that look? Have you any pics posted on any forums of the mods on ya bike? I'd like a tacho/ shift light cause the SuperGlide only has a speedo and I like to have a rev and drag race and it gets to the limiter so fast every time I touch it I go slower.

Thanks Dave. Yeah I like to race http://www.harley-davidson.com/media/images/productphotos/PNA/69779_08_M_25b4a.jpg This what I'd like.. As for the black wheel I won't rush into it with the painting but it's a long way away to get it powder coated.

Hey FP.........I have an 09 lowrider and have done a few subtle mods myself.       as for the indicators, you can go smaller but i just changed to smoked lenses and they look fine to me.  Changed my number plate and tail light.Kuryakyn make a nice smoked laid back tail light plus i got a genuine harley laid back plate holder. As for your rear tyre, i will do the same and go for the 180 when mine scrubs out.I have heard that Pirellis new night dragon tyres are a bit narrower than most so will also look into how a 200 would go. PM me if you want to see photos of mine mate. As for your front wheel.....is it spokes....?   if so leave it as it is i would say......it's your bike though......

yeah theres pics and a write up here on the forum of my 200 mod. search through my posts and you'll find it.
I upped my rev limit with my PC3, I have hit it still a couple of times in 1st and 2nd.

Thanks DW have you put a 180 under that lowered guard? That's low..You need to bring the front down.
So you only used tech screws to hold on the plate what did you do to cover the old holes? I like the look of you bike but not a fan of those bars..

deadwood:Drag bars with no risers. But it's hard to do with forward controls.
I wanna take a look at changing my taillight I'm just to far from getting my hands on one, and i don't want to buy something that might not fit,.

Mate if you put a 180 tyre on Dyna rear you need to watch out for the indicator wiring inside the guard and possibly the indicator mounting bolts, or you'll bugger a few things up at the first bump! ....I lowered mine 2 inches at the back with the Screamin eagle 180 and had to re route a few things, there's not a lotta room under there with a fatter tyre.

Hey Deadwood...the 180 tyre only leaves about 4-5mm each side of my 06. First I removed the rear indicator bolts and shortened them about 10mm, so there is less poking out on inside of the guard where the bolt head is. (There were spacers& washers in there). The indicators are a two piece set up which will just dangle next to the guard if you remove the bolts.
Then I got creative....removed the indicator wiring from the metal clips inside the guard.... I could see on one where the tyre had rubbed thru to the wire core, so repaired with heat shrink tubing. Rear light wire not a prob on my bike, it follows the arch of the mudguard so nice & high up out of the way.

Then I got two pieces of ordinary 13mm black garden irrigation hose about 10cm long. Cut them along their length & punched a 5mm hole in each about 1cm from one end. Push the indicator wiring thru the slit in each tube so it ends up inside the tube, and pass the indicator mount bolts through the 5mm holes near the ends then back thru the mounting hole in the guard.
When you tighten the indicator bolts up, the part of 13mm tubing around the head flattens out, leaving the rest sticking up as a sheath around the indicator wiring. I made sure they are pointing upwards inside the guard (there should be enough slack in the wiring) so it makes a more durable surface for the tyre to rub against if you bottom out, and directs the wiring up inside the guard instead of along the edges. Works well, I can see rub marks on the 13mm tubing but hasn't rubbed right thru & indicators still work! Cost = nuthin but my time

hope this makes sense, cheers mate

Cheers Sime. Nah, that explanation made sense to me.

Thinking of changing tact and moving the indicators down on the guard next to the tail light so the wiring has a nice short run with no interference from the tyres. I'm missing the wiring clips for the indicators on the inside of the guard as initially the indicators were mounted on the number plate frame like this one cgi.ebay.com.au/New-Licence-plate-rego-number-holder-chrome-fit-Harley-/180541193885
