I have a stage 1 kit in my 95 evo except for single fire ignition....Is there much benifit in fitting this and if I do,do I have to do the coils as well??? Also any recomendations on brands etc...

    Thanks...Sparra

There has always been a debate regarding single fire over dual fire, as to which is the better, or, at least, if the change between the two (from dual to single) is worth it.
It would be fair to say that while dual fire is (obviously) an acceptable and functioning system, manufacturing costing as opposed to performance results was likely the mitigating factor in the final decision.
As improved technology has become cost-affordable, and with the advent of EFI, single fire has become the new default regardless.
Any negative effect caused by the ancillary spark in a dual fire system in a stock, or near stock, set-up, may be difficult to even notice, but it would be pretty fair to say that going to single fire never caused anyone to comment that it was worse.
Personally, I like the single fire system. I believe that it does encourage smoothness, and power increase, but we are talking minor differences here, and the benefit is greater as the complexity of the engine combination grows.
You certainly need a different coil set-up for single fire over dual fire.

I posted the original question but since then have done a few mods to my bike, the main being a cam and at the moment it is running excellent, reliable and more than enough power for me so for the time being I will stay with the original ignition system...All the research I have done shows any benifit to be inconclusive so why change something that is working fine...Thanks for the reply's...
