Hi All
I need a 2010 FLHX owners input ASAP please.
I just picked up mine a month back and am very happy BUT, the bastards never hooked the rear tri bar tail brake light up at the base of the rear fender.
Now i am told that on Australian bikes this is not a supported feature and is not meant to have this light hooked up and there is no provision for this to be hooked up????
Is this correct does your one work and am i being fed a crock??
I am pissed on this as i loved this feature of the rear end only to be told there is no way to get it running.
Any help appreciated
Cheers
SKINNY
Thanks all
I am rang the dealer today and demanded it be fixed/turned on it is part of the bike and wether they want to do it or not i do not care (cracked the sads). So i am going to Dandenong Peter Stevens 9am Sat morning and if they give me the run around i reckon i will be like a bull in a china shop pardon the pun.
Will let you know how i get on.
Skinny
Hi Skinny
The tribar light isn't legal to australian standards this is one thing they do not tell you it's just a dummy look alike with no lights init, as it was part of the appearence when I saw the bike as I have an 07 flhx. Mine had all the gear & the dealer just cut the wires at the rubber plug, so I did a butcher job to see what it looked like. The part No. for the tri-bar is 68358-07A. This one works as a running light & brake there is also one that you use as a running or brake. A mate & myself both did our own, but they do get water in them so I drilled a couple of small holes in one corner so it drains. On the 07 & 08 there is a plug you plug straight into & your are off & running.
Good Luck Rick
Thanks for that you are correct went to the dealer today they had no idea suprise suprise, so i took it home and pulled it apart myself to find out what was going on. As you said it was dummy unit. I will save some $ and buy the brake tail but will have to splice it into the loom by the look of it, or track back the touring loom and tack it into that.
The wiring is there on the left hand side standing at the back it is tuck in under the sit, so its a straight plug in. Im redo doing mine as mine is broken I have brought a new one & a new fender filler which im going to get chromed, instead of colour coded.
Rick
Hey Sweet
When i pulled mine apart there was a loom coming down the left hand side then it plugged into a black housing which is part of the tri-bar light and then the integrated indicator tail stop wiring plugs into the other side of the black housing (hope that makes sence).
When i get some time i will pull the seat and have a look under there to see if i can find the plug.
That is the cable i was talking about it looks like you found it. It's look when it's all working.
Thanks Rick
Thanks for that, i might have to wait a month or so before i buy the unit i am looking at what i can do to protect the pannier lids from scratches and thinking of getting the HD leather covers to go on top. The other alternative is some sort of 3m product mmm not sure which way to go at the moment but that will be my priority first up.
yeah Man the light is a cool addition/feature . I have an 07 FLHX and in 08 I did the Sturgis + Milwaukee run.
When I got over there I saw the US models (S/G) with the the tri light and thought typical Harley , ripping us off and not putting the lihgt on the export model. Any I did a bit of shopping ,as you do ,I got the light and several other goodies , freighted them back to OZ.
The light is no problem to fit ,the wiring is there already, the connection is under the pillion seat. It just clicks into the harness there. The light cost about $US90. It really does look good and works as a breaklight as well.
I'm away at work now so I don't have access to the part number without scrolling the net. You might be able to get onto that.
Any way ,good luck and and happy K's on your Street Glide. They really are a good model!!!
Groucho.
I have a 59776-10 Fender tip/brake light with Smocked lens in my possesion, never been fitted, brand new with instructions. I am willing to part with it for the small amount of $100.00 which includes shipping.

Here is a web site for you regarding the clear PVC http://www.motorcycle-armor.com also the harley covers are only vynol not leather.
Chers Rick
Not sure mate i may have a quick look at it down my way to see if i like it or not see you on the weekend.
Thanks for the offer but it does not appear to fit my model FLHX :-(
Thanks for the link Rick and the advice on the covers the sales guy told me they were leather but what would they know. LOL
Hey Bomber
Not sure these days about if they are just a empty shell or just needs to be plugged in. You will have to ask the dealer & if its a shell I would ask for the tri light to br fitted myself & get the one that is a running light & brake. As this is what I went with on my streety
Bomber
If the wire is there then it should be just a straight plug into the wiring harness then if not already done. At least you have the wire on my 07 they cut the wire idiots.
I have an 08 FLHX.
I got the part number for the tri bar light from a US dealer site (can't remember which one) went down to Perth HD & ordered it (X Sydney)
$125 & 7 days later It arrived. It has detailed instructions and only takes about an Hour to fit.
Plugs staight in, No drilling, no cutting. So simple a Harley rider could do it!
Blacktown HD have 2 streety's on the show room floor & I put my hand under the back to check & there is wire coming from the tri light. If I was you I would wait until u get ur bike & check for yourself. As when I got my 07 it had the light but they cut the wires & the other ones that come just had a empty casing to take up the spot. It is an easy job to fit one not worth paying the stealer.
