Embarassing Moments

    Hi All

Well I had very embarassing weekend.  Finally had an opportunity to get the new Harley out and decided to meet up with the HOG's.  Arrive at the meeting point - all good.  Saddled up and joined the group at the back of the pack but had to come out of the meeting area onto the road at a slight angle.  The lights went green and the group moved off, I inadvertly touched the kerb while straightning the bike up.   I had touched the kerb, tried to striaghten it, then I was up over the kerb onto the foot path then clipped a building and then the bike and myself are on the ground.  Fortunately it was all low speed and I did not take anyone down with me.  A great way to join a club - turn up and trash your bike in front of them .  It is fully insured so the bike will get fixed.  What shits me the most is - I got my skills up on older bikes so that if I had an accident it didn't really matter - I had a couple of minor accidents but not like this. Live and learn I guess.

Please feel free to add your own story.

    Hi
I'm in Adelaide - one of the guys that was in the group called me last night and suggested that only a few of us (5) go out next time and get my confidence back. I agree that I need some group riding experience - so when I get my bike back from the shop I will definately be up for it. And you are right - the rear brake is my friend but the bike got away from me and I was a passenger :( I am lucky that I am only bruised but the pride is a bit broken - like one of the guys said to me, next time it will be someone else, so don't feel so bad.

Glad you're ok and only the bike and your pride was damaged!

I think we've all had a bit of a "Dudley" moment at some point....

wrong squezee of the brake one crank of the trottle and it can all get funny real quick, like you said lifes a lessons, having lessons is nto the issue learning from them is, if you take your event for what it was you may well develop better skillz and enjoy riding a lot more, me I have never been a good rider learn most my lessons the hard way, but at least I learnt them.

Hey Alfie ur not on ur own mate I had just picked up the bike, after 2 years without one (not from stevos) and decided to putt up the road for the "opening of the gates of heaven" (Stevos city store) Had a good look around, a couple of free beers, noticed it was startin to rain so we geared up ready to head the 160klm home. Of course there was only a few people out the front (a few 1000) up the road we go and stall, start again big rev, take off and stall. Hmmm fuel tap?? Felt like a real knob and the cheers from the crowd showed I was.

You now have a good reason to buy that patch "Crashing Sucks" and stick on your HOG vest....

Man - some of these are funny!!

My best is I had just filled up my Vstar at the servo and was about to leave when I noticed some fuel had started to run down the tank, so I though... better get some paper-towel and clean that. Problem was I forgot to put the side stand back down and when I leaned the bike over, it pinned me to the bowser!! Lucky a guy filling his ute across from me came to my aid as I was in such a position that I could not get any leverage to get the bike off me.

I took me ages before I could go back to that servo!! :)

    Cheers
