Recently back from the South East Asia HOG Rally from Singapore through Malaysia to Thailand. Only 2 Aussies present plus a few expat Aussies living in Thailand who joined us there. It was a pretty amazing trip with 175 Harleys. Looks like they are hoping to do one every even numbered year. You can hire bikes at HD Singapore but not Kuala Lumpur at this time. Hire is about Aus $170 a day and they have about 7 bikes. Sounds expensive but, if you pay for 9 days or so it's the same as for a month. You pay around $1700 for 30 days hire. That's less than $60 a day! Where in the world can you do that? Would be a good trip for 3 to 6 guys from Aus. Insurance included for Malaysia but not for Thailand.......... not hard to sort. The 12 day trip with bike hire, hotels, food, fuel, booze etc was a bit under $4,000. Not cheap but you always pay a bit more for 5 star hotels and shorter trips.
This bike with the unusual wheels belonged to a Pommy expat in Kuala Lumpur, I think his name was Simon.... nice bloke. Apparently, the material was invented by NASA. You can have a pair of these complete with hub brakes for a mere US$10,000. Would be nice to be so different but I still prefer stylish chrome rims a bit more...
