howdy, Im in Geelong and at this stage dont have a HD and I dont like to admit that I have never really been into Harleys at all. I hadnt ridden a bike for about 20 years and just 12 months ago I got a motorcross bike (cr250) F***, this thing hammered, like sick. Anyway,  I hired a Heritage Softail '09 model last weekend from North Melbourne, spinning out abit cause never ridden a HD or even a HUGE road bike  before, Biggest I had years ago was 500 Kwaka tripple. Anyway rode from melbourne to geelong, took all the family for a decent spin then rode it back next day. Gotta say that I wasn't that impressed (sorry!) didnt handle, didnt go real hard, didn't change gears real easily (had rocker gear shift) my foot kept getting caught in the front and back levers, the running boards scraped on the ground cornering. It did feel good though in a straight line. I really think my expectations were too high.

Anyway, I have been looking since then at the V-Rod (maybe night rod or muscle) and apart from the traditionalist views, from all accounts they seem like HD have really hit the mark, good handling, HEAPS of power and drop dead styling (imho).

I've been looking on ebay and trading post and hopefully soon will be able to lash out and be part of this community.

    Cheers, Murray
