Sir883. I f you can, please post up some pics of your Iron with the 883 low rear shocks. I am interested to see how it looks, and hear how you find it for cornering clearance. Just using you to do some research if that's OK.

Yeh Thanks Billfish. They were exactly what i was after.

TC, Yeh mate...i will post pics up this week...They look great on the bike! those stock shocks on the OZ spec iron make it look horrible! could not stand to look at the back half of the bike!

Ride is the same....went for a long ride yesterday and did not scrape the foot pegs at all. But it will happen. My mate riding behind me said i had less than an inch clearance on some corners.

Finally got the pics up. Sorry for the crappy pics. Were taken from my iphone.

Big difference in feel and looks! this should be the first mod for all OZ spec irons!

    Stock shocks below.

I have a pair of barely used Low shocks if anyone is interested. An even hundred bucks would make 'em yours.

    I live in Rosebud, Victoria.

SIR883, nice looking Iron mate, great job. Mate, what size are your Z bars? And would it be possible to twist them a little bit closer to ya , so you have a bit of angle in you elbows. Also are your arms straight in front of ya, or slightly hanging?

thanks again, there are alot of other awesome irons out there on the net, still got a few mods to go.

I got the bars custom made, find a picture of what you want and contact Dennis 0438 422 202 at SPS fabrication (website below) tell him "Ollie told me to call you". Top bloke. he made mine for $150. Alil cheaper than ebay after postage.

Anyone who reads this can contact Dennis if you want handle bars made. 0438 422 202 he is in Sydney.

Sir, top looking Iron mate. While we are talking about inspiration - I have just bought a set of 883 low shocks from Birch. Your photos sealed the idea for me, so thanks heaps. Can't wait to get them on the bike. Will post pics when done. TC

Only luck I have ever had! I have been watching the for sale ads on here and ebay Aus for a while. Post up on the wanted section if you are after them, you never know your luck. As for the V&H SS with no other mods....not really sure. I was only after sound and appearance. I really like the stock tapered slip ons on the Iron. Looked around at other slip ons, and the only ones I liked were tapered and looked like stockers...so I got hold of a spare set and drilled them out, as per Damon's technique. Bike runs fine, no problems. All of the advice I got said that slip ons and no other mods were fine, no need for remapping. As soon as you add an air cleaner, it is time to remap (fuelpak, Screaming budgie, power commander etc). Most advice also seems to say if you go to a full system like the short shots you need to remap. I would be wary of not remapping after fitting the short shots....TC

Yeah that’s what I heard as well and that all than becomes quite an expensive exercise just for sound and appearance. Anyway thanks for an info n advice, keep up good work and ride safe mate. Post some pic. when you have a chance. By the way what mark would you give for the sound of drilled mufflers from 1 to 10. 1 being stock and 10 being V&H SS? Cheers.

Zoi84, im just getting v&h slip ons from ebay and getting them powder coated matt black. Just as TC said no need for new filter fuel pak etc etc..but if you dont mind chnaging those things go for it.

TC, yep you are lucky! you know how long it took me to find a seller? ages. kept checking ebay...wasnt keen on buying progressive shocks 412, it was costing me over 300 bucks after postage, thats as much as the v&h slip ons im gonna get soon.

Yeah, I drilled my pipes too, and am pretty happy with the sound (especially at the price!). They sound good, but not too loud, and when I was pulled over recently , the cops did not even mention them. Had enough police trouble in the past to last a lifetime, so I was happy about that.
Also have a K&N filter which made no noticeable difference, but at least it is the last air filter I will have to buy for the bike.
