From Geraldton WA . currently riding an 84 ironhead sporty.... butchered and bashed and ugly as sin...... wakes up grumpy and often refuses to move..... kind of meant for each other.

Currently looking for a new ride so i can put the ole cranky bugga in the shed for a bobber job sometime in the future

Great forum guys , been having a scroll through and found a pile of goodies to refer back to

    cheers

    G'day there Kingy and Taffywelshman,

You know, I ride a Harley because I want to and because I don't give a big brown dog's shite what anyone else thinks. I wear a full-face helmet in the cooler months, fit the windscreen for longer rides and horror of all horrors, I leave the reflectors on !!!!

Why? Because I am an individual. I don't have to buckle under to peer pressure or to any of these forum fads. I do what I want, whenever I want and don't answer to anybody. And isn't this what the Harley Davidson Company constantly promotes in all their advertising propaganda? Freedom and individualism and rebellion against conformity to suppressive government regulations. Yeah, right!!!

Anyway, I know you blokes have heard it all before, so what I'm saying in a nutshell is "Just do what you want to do and stuff everyone else's opinions!!!!!"

Taffy, the natural progression for you would have to have been to move from the Iron to a Fatbob. However, having seen the pics of your new ride, the 2005 CVO Fatboy, I can understand why you, or anyone for that matter could not knock back the opportunity to snatch up such a deal on such a truly beautiful piece of man made machinery. Well done my fine Welsh friend. Enjoy and don't take shite from anyone!

Kingy, congratulations again on such a fine choice of machinery.

Thanks for the pic. I see that you have the SE pipes in black. Very nice. (And I don't piss in anybody's pocket.) I had the chromies fitted. Black wasn't available when I bought it.
After stage 1, like you I lowered Bob's ears (Blinkers) and he looks much better for it. I'm considering fitting Burleigh Roller Bars in order to sit back more comfortably (I'm 5'10" but still feel a bit stretched with the standard bars).
Regarding the exhaust system, certain adjustments can be made quite easily to the SE baffle system in order to increase performance (read sound) while also saving money. There are other posts on this subject in this forum.
If you end up fitting mid-mounted pegs, I'd be really interested to see how you go as converting to a full mid-mount control system could prove to be quite expensive.

    Beers to y'all, DARKRIDER

Some say "Keep it real". I say "Keep it Dark!!!!"

    Hi King.
Im also a newby, looking forward to meeting you guys.
i have a streeet bob with mid mounts and fat bob bars, and love them, also have high way pegs but to be honest with you the high way pegs are useless.
I feel i have much more control of the bike with the mid mounts.
The forward controls on a soft tail are are in a better position than the forward controls on the dyna.

    Cheers fugitive

Mine came with VERY forward controls with your heels scraping in the mildest bend so I had the dealer re-fit the original boards. Far enough forward to be comfortable and, if you are feeling in sporty mode, with your toes on the back of the board it feels almost like mids. A good enough compromise. When I was intending to get the Bob they told me the mids cost a bundle because it is a pretty big job because of the way the pipes are mounted. With a great handling bike like that though it would have to be worth it.

HD reflectors are like McDonald pickles. No one likes them them, but somebody is getting rich supplying them. "Don't want no pickle, just wanna rip the 'flectors off mah motorsickle"

Mine are staying on just for the benefit of Volvo drivers who run red lights.
