i have had my licence for a short time, wanting to ride with others but am unsure of how i wil be taken when i only have a 250cc ,its a cruiser style would of bought a harley but they dont make 250cc, dont know why? mine is a hyosung aquilla have been travelling around the south west already but would be better as group.

everyone has pretty much had to start on a 250cc .... so I wouldnt worry about it ..just get out and ride

the only issue you may have is that of actually keeping up when the bigger bikes want to push things a bit

and if you look in the latest edition of "Heavy Duty" there is now someone who makes "harley lookalike" 250 cc bikes ..I think they look pretty good ..might pay a pretty penny for them tho

My last bike was the very same bike as you an Aquilla 250, great learner bike, in fact it's still in my garage.  I went on plenty or rides with a group of Hyosung riders I met through: http://www.prideinwhatyouride.com, check them out.

On most of the Harley group rides I've been on you would struggle to keep up with a 250, which could be dangerous, best to go at your own pace with a group of riders that will cater for you.

Welcome from another West Auzzie, I go along with what Bones and everyone else said. Just get out there but FFS if the other riders take off and you try to stay with them only ride to your skill level. As I saw somewhere ... "Only ride as fast as your gaurdian angel can fly"

I remember being on my 250 criuser and the issues I had with riding with the bigger bikes.It kept me from joining in with the group rides, I am sorry I did that now.

Maybe if I ever get out on mine (grrrrr family grrrr work ) we can scoot somewhere I dont mind being able to see what the scenery heheheh

 

welcome... happy for you to tag along. no problem corner marking if necessary and waiting. The main thing is ride at your own pace, not that of the guy/gal in front. As others have said, that will ultimately be your undoing and culd end up in tears or worse.

Get bad and junk the 250 , I rode my bike without a license for the first few months when I bought it , thought I should get one so I did ,But there was no way I was going to buy and ride a 250 for 15 months ,,,I rode my Sportster though the 3 months on L's and the 12 month on restricted , never been pulled over by the Cops

arsehole, I ride with my brother every so often who's on a KLX250, no problems if we stick to the speed limit. Go for a ride with the big boys and see what you think.

Don't be put of by that wee demon Dazza, if your from Mandurah ya gotta be on the right track. I go for rides in this district all the time and your more than welcome to tag along, ya gotta start somewhere. As for keeping up, do your own thing, the guys that ride together from this forum are understanding and  can show ya how to ride well and will look after ya.

Start saving your dollars for that special harley.

bumhole see sticks @karl they cruise real slow in the city u could follow them around learn bout harley riding ,that is untill they get into 2nd gear but theres plenty of time ,keep drooling .
