I am new to Harleys, just purchased a 2008 Sportster 1200C Annerversary, one thing I dont like is how quite it is, i definately need some feed back from members about which mufflers to choose form loudness and performance. There seems to be quite a few makes to choose from.

skull, ley me know what you think of the straight shots.

I have the shortshots staggered on my 2007c if its loud you want they are but i have a little problem with heat discolouring on my chrome sprocket and lower belt guard it polishes of but its a bit of a pain other than that they are great.

 

p.s. i would be interested to hear what you think about the straight shots as well

Thete is certainly a lot to pick from, just have to go and listen to a few.

Short Stots, Stock up on Ear Plugs,,,  I have Hookers on mine Great looking and Big , Hooker also claim to produce the most HP , But to tell you the truth I wouldnt mess with a Anniversary model as they are a collectors bike, But if you must Check out Bud Exaust , they have some great and new looking stuff for Sportsters

i have S&S sllip-ons. am very happy with them. I never rode the bike with stock mufflers so cannot comment on any change in performance. I guess one advantage of slip-ons is you can easily put the stock mufflers back on if you ever want to bring it back to original condition.

Is it possible to remove any of the baffles from the standard mufflers ?

rodders, you are right about being confused, its really getting down to pulling a few riders over to see what pipes are on their bike.
I will look up Sonics now.
Anyway its been great to get the feed back, like everyone else I will know for my second Harley.
