    Hi all,

I'm considering making a set of Z apes for my ride. But I was wondering if anyone has any tips or links on material and techniques, etc.  I have searched around but with no luck yet.

Had a lot of experience with Mild steel and MIG welding, just not sure if mild steel is the right material.

    Thanks in advance

    Anything guys?

I know there are stainless bars out there as well as different alloys, but my main question is whether or not 1 inch mild steel tube (varying wall thickness) from the local steel joint will cut it.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Cheers

Mate steel tube from the local steel merchant will not cut it CREW tube is for funiture (Cold rolled electric welded) elongation is around 12%

Hydraulic Dom tube is like plasticine it is Dom (Drawn over mandrel) but it is fully annealed 25% elongation

This place is the best to get hold of some 4130 Chrome moly is http://www.racetechsteel.com.au/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=74&Itemid=96

It will not be cheap and do some checks on welding it properly (heat inputs pre and post heat treatment ) but hey there handle bars i for one would not like to muck up and have a bar snap on me or have a bit fracture

    Good luck with it mate
