Pulled up beside a bloke with his plate fitted like that and asked him how he got away with it. He said "I figure I'll get away with it for as long as I get away with it". Someone on this forum got done for a side mounted plate the first time he took the bike on the road and was not a happy fella. I think it looks great and you see a few around so I guess it depends on the luck of the draw - some PC Plods are more reasonable than others Nice work.
Aha! The amber lenses are missing. How? The covers looks the same.
You win. I surrender. Come clean.
Hey brilliant. I won't be taking a rusty old hacksaw to mine though!
Hey,
Yes you are right about using nightshades only when it is warm! I did my fronts in cold weather and the finish didn't come up to good... thought it was the paint at first then I tried again on an old car indicator lense in a heated room 22-24 degrees and it came up great. I am going to buy new front lenses and redo (and also do the rears) in spring/summer.
One of my mates side mounted his number plate on his yamaha (he made sure he put a white light on) and funnily enough he has been pulled over by the police quite a few times now but they never say anything about the side mounted plate. And you definately can't see it from a 45 degree angle! Instead they pull him over for not having a front wheel guard and a few other dodgy things he has done to the bike. He has never been booked... only given warnings. We are in the ACT. Apparently here they can't actually book you for a lot of illegal motorbike mods... only give a warning.
Dan.
Grafpac...
Its 20m behind the bike, at either 45 deg in vic?
Most side plates would be fine then right?
I assume the plate still has to be parallel to the ground though (not upright like in thsi pic).
Just making sure as I have been trying to find this without success....
