LAKESIDE CELEBRATES THE 4TH OF JULY AMERICAN STYLE Lakeside Park has answered the call of Uncle Sam and is set to celebrate July 4 with a massive display of America's finest automotive hardware. Held in conjunction with the American car clubs of Queensland this Independence Day celebration is entitled All American Lakeside and incorporates a variety of activities for lovers of Detroit's finest. Open to all cars and motorcycles manufactured in the USA, All American Lakeside will consist of a massive show and shine display, open cruise sessions and club cruise sessions on the legendary Lakeside circuit and a multi-event track session that has been dubbed the "tri-car-thlon". Consisting of a 950m hill-climb around Karussell, a 200m slalom around the Eastern Loop and an 1/8 mile drag on the main straight, the tri-car-thlon is designed as a great fun, equipment-friendly event for social car fans, rather than fierce track competitors. Expect to see a vast array of makes and models on display from the likes of Pontiac, Studebaker, Chevrolet and Ford to name just a few. Lakeside Park's superb Retro Bistro in the Lakeside Function Centre will fire up the American cuisine of hot dogs, hamburgers, fries and apple pie to go with their superb espresso coffee. All American Lakeside, set on the banks of gorgeous Lake Kurwongbah, promises a stunning visual feast of American automotive beauty - and what better day for such a celebration than the 4th of July. Gates open 8am, cruise sessions and tri-car-thlon from 9.30am until 4pm Entry is $20 payable at the gate for all vehicles (display or spectator), including two adults. Additional adults $10 each, children under 12 free. Lakeside Park is also only 10 minutes walk from Dakabin railway station.
Thanks IK, now I'm realy depressed. My boy turns 10 on the 4th of July, his name is Chevy Nash and he is hanging to go for a run somewhere on "The Hooker" (09 Rocker). Would have been a blast for him but I don't get home from work until the 5th. Double Dolt!!!
Looks like a PLAN...just down the road a bit...errr Aunty...sorry mate..I have to wash my hair that day..
We'll be there Jilli...got a little friend from the USA coming along as well with the Princess Bride, my son and his mate as well...
Might catch up if you and Ubes go.
geez....sorry Jilli....hope it wasn't anything I said....
Thinking of going up for this one. Any other gold coasters or south brisvegas keen. I was think of leaving coomera BP ~ 8.30ish.
No major problems, was a slow leak from a 1" nail, heard the hum from Ormeau, stopped at oxenford 5 way lights and made it (wobbly) to 7-11. Wouldn't hold air so called harley assist, packed on trailer within 30 mins, me taken home, bike off to M&W tomorrow morning. Expect it should just be a new tube and plug, tyre is new. Could have been worse. That's my second flat from the M1 (rocket got one anzac day 08).
Your better off going to Heavy Duty from Ormeau or Harry's at Loganholme.
Yup....I got out there early with a crew in tow...4 and a half but only got charged $20.00 for the whole crew...was expecting $40.00 but sometimes ya win.
Got some AWESOME burnouts cos I parked my arse behind the starting line and took vids of the starts...the guy that creamed his vette had 2 runs prior to that..one against a viper and it looks like the vette forgot to start the engine. His second run he went solo...then went over the back into the hillclimb and came around the top and lost it and smacked the barriers that hard he bent the bottom one ...and took the front end off the vette....OOooooooooooooooooops!!!!
I will load some of the pix later on when the Princess Bride gives me camera back.
Was great to see Homer and his lad......looked like a nice kid too.
