    OK, guys, need some opinions.................

Here's the beast as she looks now..........

Now...... I'm seriously thinking that a Fatboy front end might be the next mod.  I have a suspicion that it would look really cool (not to mention different !)

    2 questions..........

    1.  waddaya think ?

    2.  how badly am I gonna f*** up the geometry ?  Anyone know what I'd need to do to correct it ?

Dazza did the wide glide front have a fork brace on it? I have not experienced the swap that u mention but the difference between my Heritage and my softail custom is really noticable, Maybe thats different geometry between 2 standard bikes and I am talkin shit. Of course I can corner harder on the custom cos im not scrapin floorboards so maybe thats the diff. Interesting to hear ur comment on the change, would have thought that the thicker front end would have been more stable. Burnzi

The fork internals are no different than what is found on a 1948 Hydroglide.  I have posted several times on how to change that.  There are other options such as RaceTech cartridge emulators and springs but the upgrade is directly related to the price you pay $259.00 US.  Want better suspension just do something about it..

If you wish a much better upgrqde and are not afraid to do a bit of work you can:

    1. Get a 2007 & below Hayabusa and remove the cartridges.
    2. Lengthen the damper rod & compression rod.
    3. Make a new hollow type bolt that is a sholder type so the oil is picked up from the outside of the cartridge and enteres into the bottom compression inlet located in the new side holes of the new hollow bolt.
    4. Make a new Compression valve hole identical to the one on the hayabusa and along the same slot on the bottom of the fork leg.
    5. Get a new spring(s) to handle the additional weight of the Dyna.
    6. Fill with oil and you are done, that is all there is to it other than re-valving both the compression and rebound side of the piston.  The shims are standard and easily found.

Of course you can easily put in a new set of Ohlins 30 mm cartridges yourself.  I am editing a film showing how to rebuild, clean, and/or add all types of cartridges to your forks if wanted.  A gird does it for you in the film.  As soon as the film is edited, I will host it on my web site.
