Stix they are a standard dzus type fastener.

Yes you could pop them off from behind with a screwdriver but the stock arrangement allows them to be removed and replaced very easily when you want to do it.

Replacing the dzus button with something like a bolt and nylock nut would make them pretty much impossible to remove as well but just like theses brutus ones it would no longer be easy to remove the bags when you want to.

A smarter solution would be to encase the back of the dzus clip in a cover so it cant easily be accessed from outside but still easily taken off from inside.

If someone wants your shit they will get it. It just means they will have to bust your bags open there and then.

When I travelled I had bag liners and removed the valuables to the motel room. If the place looked dodgy enough you could bring the hard bags inside too.

Think about how much of any harley could be removed while you slept. Riding to your nearest dealer with no seat would be a whole lot worse than without bags!

I ride mine everyday all I do is make sure I've locked them & in 31/2 yrs I have no trouble. touch wood hahaha.

On my '01, I recently replaced the mount and clip with a new set just as a precaution. After all the years use I wouldn't want one to break. Cheap insurance!

I have done 85,000 k's on the bike & had bags on & off a few times & so far so good I haven't lost on yet.
