    G'day all

I have a 2001 fxdwg with a solid rear wheel and a 16" 150 D401 Dunlop fitted which is 3/4 worn and prone to slippage on damp corners.

Am considering trying a140 or even going back to the original 130 in Dunlop. My front is the standard D402f 21".

I'm wondering if going back to a skinnier rear will improve my overall handling,oh and the suspension is stock standard.

    cheers

What handling problems are you having ?
I would try another brand, and change both to either Avon Venom's, or Metzeler ME880, and go with a 140 rear.

You could keep the 150 rear and change front rim to 19", 110 tyre. Will improve handling no end.
As for tyres, I swear by the ME880s, and I push it pretty hard at times thru the bends.
The Metz are better in the wet than the others, especially the Venoms.

Yep - Burto gives it a bit through the Twisties alright!

Thanks everyone for your input.Like the sound of the 19" changeover, greater contact patch i spose and those skinny 21's do follow the imperfections in the road surface a bit.

Someone was telling me they reckoned Metzeler were great for the first 1/2 of their life then wore quickly after that.

dealer in tas was tryin to steer me towards dunlops or michelin as a preference.

150 tyre may not be good if your bike takes a 130. If you wheel it backwards there's a high chance it will rub against the belt or a guard. It may be worth checking your tyre or guard/belt for wear if you have a 150. I have a 140 Avon Venom on mine, they last a couple thou kays more than standard Dunlops on my bike.
