I'm really looking forward to the outback, right out of my comfort zone. Never been out back of bourke so this is about the journey for me and my good woman. And no kids...... Not to mention the furthest north i've been by road is Noosa and thats after flying to brisneyland. 5 bikes all up until charleville, pick up the 6th there.

Hiya folks. just an update at where Mr. And Mrs. Cattleprod are at. we left Melb Sunday morning, pissing down rain cold. put up with this for the first 2.5hrs, then it was just cold. mind you we were well rugged up with our dry as a bones on over the top of leathers. this kept us dry. first stop Griffith, had a good sleep up and early took off for Bourke. what a great run this was, the harley was well on song 2 up, saddlebags full, top box working a treat. bourke is a shithole. left next morning bright and early heading to Charleville via Cunnamulla. road kill like i'd never seen before total carnage in some areas with slaughtered roos every 50 meters or so. of course the wet weather was well behind us by now the sun gods were on our sides. had a day off in Charleville which was really good and we all felt, well deserved. we arrived her in Longreach late yesterday arvo and as i type feel it has been a sensational trip so far. harley is averaging 6.5Lt per 100k 2 up, hasn't missed a beat. will update more when in townsville. take care and enjoy all.

Ok time for another update, clumsy typing on the E90 keyboard but here goes. longreach to Winton was a beautiful albeit short ride. spent the day and last night there, really freindly town folk, good food and brilliant digs. we have found 99% of people on our travels are very freindly and like a chin wag. its an amazing thing, wherever we have pulled up the amount of old farts who come over to check out the bikes. mine being the only Harley in the group gets its fair share of looks and questions. half the old blokes reckon they used ride and only gave it up coz they were to old. one of our crew is 69 and laughs at this, he reckons bikes don't make you old, not riding 'em does. so, we left Winton this morning with the owners, there freinds and kids all coming out to wave us goodbye. beats get told to fuck off, good people everywhere. arrived in Charters Towers an hour or so ago, got my mini stove top esspresso out, butan bottle and Lavazza grounds, ahh, lovely. tomorrow we roll on into Townsville. more as it happens. cP

Got to TV ok, found our digs etc. Was hoping to catch up with a cupla members while there however, i was feckin busy every feckin day. Rode up to Paluma lake found out there was no one else there, fuckin quiet, saw a snake, ate some lunch (Them turkeys are good Mmm) rode back to town. Out to Maggie for a day, wow what a beautiful place is maggie, the best i saw up there, even had a cupla swims that day. Did the Ulysses parade on the saturday about 3500 of us on bikes and trikes of all types. High fived a cupla kids and a granny, made there day and mine i can tell ya, shit eating grins on the kids faces made it all worth while. Dont know if i need to do another Ulysses thing, the ride was great, loved it. Met shit loads of interesting people on the ride up and while there however....... not my cuppa. A bit about outback QLD, if from down south i can say its an amazing fuckin trip. The roads are well...... not the smoothest or widest that ive ridden, they surely worked the suspension, my wrists and back. A cupla times Sal and i left the seat at 130+ K's when hitting a "Whoop" in the road, another time 3 road trains in a row about 500m apart coming at me, # 1 blew my eyes out, # 2 pushed em back in and # 3 blew my foot off the peg, that was interesting to say the least. Had a few stretches where i could open the FXD up a bit and sustained 160 to 170 for 30 to 40 minutes, 2 up and loaded what a blast. Heading back south we took a different route hugging the Bruce to Rocky then heading back inland. WE managed to be either in front of, or behind the shit weather all the way back to Melbourne apart from a 15 minute scud out on the marlborough stretch, got wet but hey it was warm. Spent a night just north of Miles in an old WWII HE magazine converted into an underground cabin, the night sky was brilliant, the night itself was very,.... quiet. next trip has gotta be WA.

Thanks for the replys folks. Back in Melbourne back at work...Faaaark. Trying to work out how to do an early retirement (Without Carking it). 3 weeks on the road seemed like such along time while in the planning stage, Hmmm 3 years sounds better. Mrs. Cattleprod even made mention of learning to ride, strike while the irons hot i say and book in girl. While at TV Mrs was in the Harley tent and comes out all excited Mr. come here there is a beautiful orange bike i can see you on... Hmm i think, what could it be?
We go in and theres a CVO springer softy, look says she, aint it great?!! Hehe says i, if you must purchase it for your well deserving bloke well, i spose i will have it. In yer dreams says she. She Promptly sits on the rocker and says this suits my arse though, in yer dreams says i.
