My current pair of Johnny Rebs have lasted me 7 years. That's 3 resoled and heels and multiple stitching of the uppers and they are still repairable.

Doc Martins a great especially for kicking heads and they are comfortablr enough to walk in.

Viet Nam era: Australian or US army issue boots, but I don't think you will find any these days. I don't know about current army issue boots.

Black lace up Steel Blue work boots, wore them for 3 weeks in a row on a bike trip. No problems, being black you could wear them out to the night spots. Around closer to home I tend to wear Doc Martins, which would have to be the best boots I have ever worn. Worth the extra money you pay for them. The leather is soft and comfortable. No steel cap, which is the down side of the Steel Blues.
