When Karl's mate Nelly tore the teeth of his drive belt at the REV IT drags I got to thinking about the ultimate strength of the belt and how far we can go in increased HP before that becomes a serious problem. There is little info around about these belts appart from the fact that they are expensive and are a pain to fit.
Are there alternatives that are better than OEM? and is there any info on belts that gives an indication of thier rated HP etc?
Bt
Hi karl,
I just wanted to throw this out there and see if others have any probs with the belt. These belts are more or less an unseen, unheard thing not like the old chain drive that lets you know when it's too loose or worn etc just by the noise it makes. The other thing that is of interest is when it's time to change the belt, before it breaks that is. I assume that there are indicators when it needs to be changed.
EFI and drive belts are a steep learning curve for me in the old days ya drilled out a jet in the carby and threw some oil on the chain.
