I got an ATV jack today so i could perform some work on the bike.
IRON 883 2010
the jack just fits under the frame rails and then we discover that Harley have made the exhaust crossover tube about 3 MM lower than the frame rails. The exhaust sits higher so no dramas. But there is really no way to place the jack underneath and lift her up.
tried from the other side but sidestand in the way. so bar taking something off the bike.....
It is a jack the stealer sells for about double the price. I paid $149 he sells it $229.
Just wondering if any one else has come across the same issue and how they solved it.
Im thinking some flat bar steel wih enough height to overcome the crossover tube, and something to protect the frame.
any ideas i would be greatful
thanks in advance

I will post some pics as well a bit later so you can see.
Hey Nightrider, What about cutting some discs of nylon (chopping board cheap from hardware) with a holesaw then run a file across em to suit the frame rails then stick onto the jack "cushions" if u use the loctite superglue (available from a good bolt supplier and needs to be refridgerated and is unbeleivably good shit, bout $26 per bottle) might be an option? Cheers Burnzi
yeah, just use a couple blocks of wood sized to fit in the rails underneath. I have done a similar thing here... just screwed two 20mm x 20mm square peices of wood to a small board spaced out right to fit in the rails nicely. Difference here though is I'm just using a $35 car jack from supersheap auto. Slip it under, jack it up and plenty stable.
Dan.
Burnzi i have to report i used your advice except i chopped up a chopping board from the kitchen. using the BBQ and a knife i found in the kitchen draw. used the bits as chocks under the lift. Then a mate showed me his and he just jacked it up and the rubber on the lift took account of the very slightly lower crossover tube. so we have discovered a solution but i got it done, and now have a nice new black left side without shiny bits. cheers for all the responses and advice from everyone. now just need to get those loud pipes back on and ride some " src="/DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif" />
