Guys, I'm t hinking of going up a step from the sporty and LOVE the Lo but I'm hopeful of getting the missus along for shorter rides. She has a crook back so the Lo looks like a bad option. That aside, any comments on the merits of these two bikes, especially for someone with only a years riding, and all of that on a 250 then the 883?

Most of my riding is just hooning around the Northern beaches and I don't have time for anything longer than day trips - maximum a few hundred ks.

Sys are providing a free 103 upgrade with the Lo so that is very darn tempting. The heritage is obviously best value but I like a bit more modern look, so the Deluxe is a bit cleaner, without the vintage look bags etc.

    Thanks for your help.

I was tempted with the Lo only for its fat rear end :-) but considering I'll be doing alot of 2up and personal taste of the vintage nostalgic look delux was my choice and I have made the correct choice IMO.

Good luck brother in choosing your ride.

get the heritage, change the bars and get those clip ons for the saddle bags. You'll get asked if it's a Fatboy with laced rims or a Delux?. best of both worlds and do you really need a bigger motor? From a 883 to 1584 , I don't think so.

More Fatboys around that Fat girls so just remember that when you come to seller her
As for 103, that would win me but what do I know, I ride a Deluxe :-)

Fat boy Lo of those two.

I much prefer the wider 17 inch tyres on the Lo than the 16 inch spokes n white walls on the deluxe.

The couple thousand saved plus the free 103 of the Lo also puts it miles in front. Spend the difference making it a bit more pillion friendly.

    cheers

Thanks guys, she still does it for me. What's really cool is after doing the cams, she goes very well, pulls hard.. I've also done the brakes and stops on a dime. Cant wait to get out for a ride!!!!!!!!

I had the same dilema I loved the look of a deluxe but I also wanted a 200mm rear and then I stumbled across this hybrid a deluxboy or fatluxe or whatever you want to call it and my problem was solved

The only difference i can see between a fatbot and delux is the rear tire and guard, rims, passing lights and seat?

Just came back from a 330k run on the Iron, about 20% of it on rough tar that just about shook my fillings out, so that just about decides me - I prefer the look of the Lo by far but I'm going for comfort so no lowered bikes I think. Sounds like a Deluxe then. One big problem - today like everyday it didn't matter what was parked beside it, the Iron got all the attention. I'll lose the street cred going to a bike that is so common. Of course I'd hate you to think I was all pose...

From a Deluxe owner, go the Heritage!! If you are after comfort, you've got the screen, saddlebags for all your gear (good excuse to go to the shops when the missus asks you to pick up some milk and bread), and the comfy seat. The standard Deluxe seat is not that good in my opinion however, people of smaller stature tend to like it. I would go to Frasers and ask to test ride a bike, see how it fits..BTW, I did 700k's on the weekend on a Heritage seat. I'd be lucky to have done 200 on the old seat..

Go with the Deluxe , not that Fat Boy isnt any good . But the Heritage is also a option , just take the Screen & bags off & presto looks similar to the Deluxe .

I changed over to Lyndall pads, replaced with a braided line (front), fresh brake fluid and she stops significantly better than before.
