    Dermie,

2007 was the first year of fuel injected sportsters.  2006 and prior were all carbs.  I've done a lot of reading about Sportsters but I've never heard of a conversion kit for carb to FI.  It would be a big job, the wiring would be the most difficult as you'd need to wire up an ECU, plus injectors and exhaust sensors.  I'd say the cost wouldn't be worth it.

Thanks, sort of thought as much but you never know these days what's about.

Hey thanks Hef that is probably the thing that would really work. Will probably cost 21/2 to 3K installed. I will look at this & work out whether in the next few months I would want a new Sportsta or keep this one with a injection system.

Yeah I reckon I might in the short term future, I bought this one (05 Sportsta Custom) at 1,900 kms in Jan & have now got over 13,000kms on it. I am generally very happy with it but it takes forever to warm up & I like to ride it as much as possible, but just dropping down to town at 5kms away for a latte & the thing is still farting & spluttering by the time I get to my favorite cafĂ©!!

No it is a2005 sportster & I bought it this January 2010, Actually I made a mistake it was in December 09 that I bought it. It was owned by a lady who got a crook back. I think she wanted a Harely & was told that the "small one" would be the way to go, probably should have got a small bike.

Digital speedo?? its got a needle that spins around to tell me how fast we are going & a row of led's under it to tell me right or left or whats going wrong!!

I meant the odometer - if it was digital or the old kind. I can do 1900 kms on a good weekend so forgive me if I'm skeptical :P

a mate of mine fitted a mikuni carb to his and made it start and run 100% better..efi wouldn't be that hard to do but you'd need a complete loom/ecu from a written off bike (wreckers would have these by now!)manifold/injectors/a/c backing plate and a month of weekends in the garage..
