could any one please tel me the differance between
an 88 twin cam & an 88 B please i thought 1 went in touring bikes & dinaglides & the other went in softails like to know
Both engines are pretty much the same except that the B motor has the balancer chain and counterweight in the lower front of the cases, which are also different. The B is a smoother running engine, vibration wise, but the A has a couple more horsepower because it isn't pulling the chain and counterbalancer. The A is rubber mounted and the B is hard mounted. I don't think one is better than the other as far as dependability. I have an 02 wideglide with 99k miles and my brother has an 03 heritage classic with 80k miles and both are doing just fine. In a race the A will almost always outrun the B in equal size bike ie softail against a dyna but other than that they are both fine bikes/engines.
