I'd like to lower my 06 Dyna using 11" Progressive shocks. The bike has the Screamin Eagle 180 wide tyre fitted, and I suspect the wheel may go close to rubbing the inside of the guard.

Anyone  have experience with this wheel / shock combination??

    thanks

Thanks but I'm trying to get lower - not just so it looks better but because I'm 'vertically challenged'!!

I run 10" Shocks on my Sportster , I did tear the wiring out after a few months,  as the wiring ran over the top of the Tyre, when  I  repleced the wiring  I  ran in down the side edge of the gaurd ,,

I would try unhooking the Shocks that you have now and  with the help of a bike lifter or jack lower the bike down and see how much room you have befor it bottoms out , once it lowered to the hight you want grab an tape and mesure the disdance between the shocker bolts, You may find that the bike maybe able to take shorter than 11"shocks ,

Ikon in Albury will make Progressive Shocks any length you want  at a great price. Geoff is the guy there , he knows his stuff , he will be able to tell you how much travel you will need,

Hey Sime69 and BACAMICK, when you put your 180's on did you need to put the "wide tyre kit" on as well, I think they are brackets that go over some wiring and allen head blinker mount bolts?. Also I just put the narrow blinker mounts on they came with shorter bolts (obviously), the bolts for the Dyna were the same head type (hexagon) but the bolts for a Softtail were the allen heads, man what a jip....

Yeah the SE180 wide tyre for my 06 Dyna needed the kit as well, not sure exactly what was in it, but I can tell you afterwards the lens on one of my rear blinkers wouldn't go on properly. When I checked, the bolt that holds the indicator housing on the guard was too long and was preventing the silver globe housing from being pushed all the way back into the indicator body. They are not Allen head bolts, just normal hex. Allen heads would stick too far into the mudguard space I reckon. Anyway I've since pulled both sides apart, hacksawed about 5mm off each bolt and put back together, & capped 'em off with smoked lenses.
As per BACAMICK's info, I can see that if I lower my bike at rear, the wiring to indicators will be the first thing the tyre touches if I bottom out. It looks do-able, but with the wide tyre sitting up higher in that big ass Dyna mudguard, there will still be less than 8mm clear on each side!
