Pretty happy with my mild build. Wanted usable street power, not just top end, and the cost wasn't huge. Doing the cam-plate conversion bumped up the cost a little, and I could have got away without that, but wanted to do it anyway. Only annoyance is crank run out was not checked - didn't know about the potential issues till post build. Oh well, if it becomes a problem, I'll deal with it then - budget has ground to a screaming halt for now!

Bike is a heap of fun to ride now, so I'll just enjoy it....!

    Cheers, Nado.

Thanks for posting this up & congratulations. This is very close to my build & shows me where I'll be roughly at with it.
Only differences are no port & polish but added 1.9" intake valves, 2:1 fatcat exhaust & std thottle body.
Plan on starting it up for 1st time this weekend, dyno in a few months after break-in & v-tune.

I think you've done very well. Nice lump of torque you've got there !

Wouldn't worry to much about the crank runout on your model.

     Nado,

G'day mate ya got some great numbers there, I have got a similar build except I have got TW 50 cams but no head work and mine maxes out at 86 hp and 91 tq, so just goes to show that a lot can be said about doing head work. I noticed that ya went for the 'N" series cams so you can use the roller chain for the rear cam drive so can I ask ya what sort of chain is used on the front drive is it a roller chain or the troublesome silent chain ?. IMHO it seems a waste of time and money if ya cant get rid of them silent chains from the research that I've read

The reason for this is mine has done 50 k and I am going to pull the cam chest cover to check the wear of the tensioner and I am debating weather to just renew the wear pads and go for another 50 k then do an overhaul or to an cam plate upgrade now but I would have to change cams to either "N" or "G"series if the crank run out is OK .

Anyway enjoy  the best looking bike that Harley built any pre 06 FXDWG

    Hey Stinga,

I spent a bit of time on the phone to Gary from Andrews before doing it this way. I got North Shore Cycles in New York to put the kit together for me. They used bits out of the SE conversion kit, which was a bit confusing and ended up missing the correct spacers and a circlip. The guy who did the build worked it out fine though. If I did it again I'd just use the parts numbers on the list (see link to attached pdf file) and just punch them into Zanotti's site.

Happy with the result, engine is quieter. Essentially this makes the whole right side of the engine 2007 + spec. Only difference is the inner cam bearing is 7/8 in stead of 1" like the new ones (hence the conversion cam).  All parts are basically 07+ parts. Only problem is now I'm limited to conversion cams.

I assume you're running a tight squish - at least down to 0.030", if not that will wake it up a bit and help out with any pinging you might have.

    Cheers! Nado.
