custom tune and changes in temperature and climate

    G'day fellas.....

How much does changes in temperature and climate affect the tune of the new FI twincam bikes?   eg getting the bike dynotuned here in WA and then shipping the bike to Melbourne or Tassie where the climate is very different..... would it need to be re-tuned?   Oh yeah, the bike has a stage 1 a/c, pipes and a PCV.....

    Thanks for any advice, berms

The climate seems to be the same all over......Gotta watch those Tasmanians though....

The bike senses Manifold Absolute Pressure which compensates for altitude.

You will still make less power up a mountain but the bike is already "seeing" less pressure so the tune will be fine.

To cope with changes in elevation then maybe..

Air temp/humidity, you will still be AOK.

    No re-tune required within WA/Australia

Thanks gmeikle..... does this still apply if the 02 sensors have been eliminated due to running the PCV?

Thanks Surly - does this still happen even though I have disconnected my 02 sensors when I plugged in my PCV?

I wouldn't have thought we have any roads in Oz at elevations we need to worry about.
Berms, if it makes ya feel better, I have ridden my 107 engine into Cradle Mt,(open loop=no O2 sensors), with no issues. You have nuthn to worry about at all.
The Factory Delphi system copes with elevation and fuel changes adequately, that includes using the factory O2 sensors.
relax mate, all is good in tune world for you.

Hey Stix, my 02 sensors are disconnected as I have a PCV....... thats why I was concerned about the differences in climate between WA and Tassie.

I'm riding all the way down to Patterson's in Bunbury for a tune..... I hear he is the best.

The O2 sensors as stock are a good tool. Disabling them always seemed just plain "wrong" to me.

Still, folks do it all the time, including Harley many dealerships I may add !!

My feelings and understandings are that the self adjustability AKA "Adaptive learning" of the stock ECM is compromised when the O2 sensors are out of the loop ( No pun intended !!).

Still it's your dollar(s) as they say.

In answer to your original question, well prolly the bike will run much the same unless you are up for HUGE changes in elevation. That's not likely in Australia anyplace I've been and I've been plenty everywhere. ( Like the telstra ad fer farksake...).

Hehehe..... any chance to knock the PCV eh Gregg?   The idea of disconnecting the 02 sensors really relies on getting a proper "tune" on the dyno and then there is no need for any 02 sensors? is there?
